Is Cheek Going To Destroy Tennessee Athletics?

Horrible snub imo. There's no excuse for an oversight like that. Have you seen his amount of fail in the basketball forum? The last great thread got axed.

The SC needs to read more threads. Not just listening to the talking heads. LG is the Duke of Volnation, getting the benefit of a higher seed because of his storied past of fail.
This display of fail is on level of UCONN running the table in the Big East Championship.
I smell a #2 seed before Gibbs even logs on tonight.

Fine don't call it fair. Call it free market. The kid has a marketable talent. He also is dumb as a box of rocks. He isn't allowed to market that talent until he is able to do something completely unrelated to that talent. That's not free market economics.

That's Eddrick Loften's problem, not Tennessee's. The guy can't qualify even under the already vastly more lenient standards applied to football players. There's almost no chance he would come in and pass his coursework and stay eligible. As long as the American football system uses universities as its minor leagues, you're going to have situations like this. It's stupid, but it's the system's fault. Not UTK's.

The only way to succeed at your talent is to leave the country. That's the American way.

Funny you say that, because I did leave the country...numerous times...over my military career. 3, 6, and sometimes 12 months at a time. Left behind a family, pets, friends, house, yard, and a nation that I never met, but thought enough of to sacrifice the wants of "me" for the needs of "it".

I am but one of millions. I'm among the lucky ones. I came home.

Coincidentally, today is Flag Day. Mine is proudly displayed, as it is the other 364.

Would you have me leave again? To what end?

Go Vols.

Jay Bilas and Digger Phelps are feverishly debating this issue as we speak.

At no point have I ever disagreed with this. It's a systemic problem. Acting like college football is anything more than to make money off these kids is silly, IMO. Raising the academic standards so we take advantage of a slightly more intelligent kid doesn't do it for me.

Again I'm saying the situations are completely different. I respect and am grateful for your service. I don't see what that has to do with holding a kid hostage for 3 years and capitalizing off him.

Racist and elitist, imo. (Premium)

The premier product of the "free market," the NFL, decided they would rather not invest in guys right out of high school before they had demonstrated some level of maturity. That's their prerogative.

Pacman and Kenny Britt indicate that the NFL is only interested in maturity to the point that it keeps them from making money.

The SC should consider expansion. Fail occurs all over this board. It's not just confined to recruiting and the zone. So much fail, so little manpower.

You've done it now. First, Walt will send you a scathing PM threatening to gut you like a bream. Then, Ravenheart will post a weepy, semi-intelligible novel about how cruel you are. Then, the fun police mods will threaten to eliminate all evidence of your existence here.

Fabulous post.

Honestly, they learned, as did the NBA, that the value of the fanbase built via college allegiance is enormous.

The NFL decided when a player was draftable, on their own. As already mentioned, there are other options available. The NFL and the like are "the market," not colleges.

So the company is the market? That's your definition of free market?
