If I could answer that I could also win several lotteries.

I hope he is because that will mean our footVol team is getting lots of Wins including the SEC Championship, in the playoffs and maybe winning a National Championship too.

If he stays 3 to 4 more years and can't get past 8 or 9 wins then we'll start the coaching merry-go-round again and will need a better coach and a great recruiter too.

Without top recruiting we'll never get back to the top of the National mountain.

VFL...GBO!!!

I believe Butch would be here if he can win a average of 9 games a year and Tennessee fans understand that's who we are .

Let's see. A week a go people were naming his replacement. UT beats a mediocre UGA team and he's coach for life?

Georgia's not mediocre. They're QB is weak, but the rest of their team is solid. But you're entitled to your opinion

He won't last ten years. And, the chances of UT winning another NC in the next ten years is extremely low, IMO.

Statistically speaking, you are correct. We win one about every 40 years or so. So count on 2038. :)

PS. By then I will not be able to remember who the VOLS are....

It's impossible in this day and age of coaching to know if anyone will be anywhere in 5 years alone 10. I think he is the right guy for the job and can bring a NC to Knoxville if given the time.

Butch beat USC in 2013 to turn the corner, then lost to Vandy.
Butch beat USC in 2014 to turn the corner, then lost to Mizzou.
Butch beat UGA in 2015 to turn the corner, then lost to ______.
Fill in the blank!

Hamilton and half the people on here would have given him a raise and an extension after last week.

I think the guy is a climber and will keep going up as long as he has success.

Nothing wrong with that it today's game. Coaches staying in one place like Fulmer, Beamer, etc are a thing of the past.

VN logic.

VN is a big place, but it's not one voice. Logic says you'll find practically all perspectives, practically all the time.

There is no "up" past this point, unless you count the NFL. There are 10-30 (depending how who's counting them) destination jobs in college football, and Tennessee is one of them.

And Butch doesn't seem the type to go to the NFL.

So he's as "up" as he gets.

As for long term coaches being a thing of the past, I disagree. There's just as much room for it in today's game as ever.

In today's society, I doubt any coach will be at their respective schools in 10 years. No patience, give it to me now society will end long term coaching IMO. Then again, in 10 years I will probably be more concerned about being an early morning 'mall walker'..lol

Not with this fanbase. Better question is how many "fire Butch" petitions could we see in 10 years?

Butch seems the type to want to compete at the highest level to me so we can just disagree on that point.

He hasn't been in a head coaching job for more than 3 seasons yet so he is a ladder climber. I am not saying it's a bad thing either.

People were saying Chip Kelly was a lifetime college coach as well a few years ago and he had it made at Oregon.

Once upon a time, Steve Spurrier was never going to leave Florida.

Successful coaches get the competitive itch and hear the cash registers all the time. Nothing wrong with it. It just is what it is.

And you said there are 10-30 destination jobs in college. What if one of those other destination jobs comes at him with enough money? There is nothing tying him down Knoxville.

I just hope he is successful enough here to have this discussion in a few years.

When did UGA become mediocre? After we beat them? Most were chalking UGA up as a loss. Most were pining for the consistency of CMR. Do the goal post move daily or weekly?

I didnt want him to go anywhere before the GA game and I still don't. The kids love him and he has brought stability back to the program and building depth.
