Is Butch Done

Again, how are we "getting ahead"? We aren't going to get a replacement until after the season ends regardless. Beng the first to fire our coach does what exactly? We can use back channels to gauge interest now so I still don't see the advantage to firing him now.

Snowballs chance yes, but we may have a coach hired before the bidding war.

He's done after Bama, assuming he loses tomorrow. They'd do it after SC but they don't want to send an interim to Tuscaloosa. It would be impossible to get the team behind an interim that gets slaughtered first time out.

The team will get slaughtered anyway, regardless. Just let the interim take the ass kicking, so he doesn't have as much ammunition in lobbying for the job full time.

Short of beating Bama or 9-3, he is done. I think he will survive a loss tomorrow, but not a blow out. If SC blows us out in Neyland, Butch is gone by Monday.

Neither scenario where he stays is at all likely. Tennessee will be lucky to get to 6 wins this year. He is done barring a miracle.

Here is the probable senerio. Muschamp will seal the fate tomorrow. Mondays presser will be the announcement he has been removed. Hoke will be interim

Yes, Jones is done. That writing was on the wall as soon as it became apparent that a rocket scientist at QB is required to run his offense.

Look at the QBs Tn has gone through: Worley, Peterman, Ferguson (didn't play in a game but obviously saw the problem while recovering from injury) Dormady and finally JG. Only Dobbs has been able to comprehend the offense and run it with some effectiveness.

Dormady against GT was running a simplified version of the offense (don't want to give future opponents tape to work with). There were problems early on with execution but by the second half the TN offense was rolling. Against Fla the game plan was still relatively simple but play calling and execution was the teams downfall. For UMass the game plan got a little more complicated as this was the prelude to GA. Again, execution was a problem but just as Dormady was starting to get a groove going, in came JG. The mood was changed and the offense stalled, but the team hung on to win. Then came GA. Game plan became more complex, players are thinking instead of reacting, timing is off, offense goes nowhere.

Jones said he was going back to fundamentals. If this translates to a game plan the players can comprehend then the team has a shot to win. But if the game plan is similiar in complexity to GA then we will see more "deer in the headlights".

Unfortunately, there are few rocket scientists playing QB, therefore Jones will have great difficulty in finding another Dobbs to run his offense!

There will be 100000 plus there at neyland that will help ensure coach jones continues at least thru the season..bank on it

And those of you who have this pipe dream that he just ups and leaves are kidding yourselves..he wont leave that buyout money on the table

Besides why would tennessee fire a coach who still puts butts in the seats..would be a stupid financial move

On Finebaum, he indicated that if Butch were to lose, say 20-19 ... then no one would change their plans. But ... if he lost 35-3, it's probably over.

I have a feeling it's going to be a little more drawn out, than what you describe above, think about it?
