Does the fact that the majority of Vols fans really like the hire of Bruce Pearl and the job he has done make you feel more confident they can do the same for the football team? Is it a non factor?

Yes it is a direct relationship to all the other programs at the University. Look at the other programs that are having success. Summitt, Pearl.
Add to the fact that some unknown (Pearl) can come in and revive a dead horse:horse: , fill the arena with wild fans:baloon:, and make everyone that we play hate us:the_finger:. You get the point.

To be honest, Bruce Pearl probably lost some respect for the University. If a better offer comes along, he might take it. Taking the program to the highest level isn't good enough for this fan base if you have a couple of bad seasons later on. He knows that his good name and popularity is artificial and will be in danger as soon as we miss the NCAA Tourney more than one season... Just watch and wait.

Winning a NC isn't good enough around here.

Give me a break. You act as though Tennessee's the only school in the country who would let a coach go after an entire decade without a championship season.

In reality, Tennessee is one of the few schools in the country that would allow a coach to go that long without getting it done.

If anything, the university showed too much support and patience with Fulmer. Pearl knows that, at Tennessee or any other school in the country, you've got to produce to keep your job. True competitors wouldn't have it any other way.

No, he also hired Todd Raleigh! He's 1-1, this could decide his future.
