Is Anyone else Concerned About GA's Offense

wow. i think anyone that knows anything about football knows GA isn't going to suck. they've done too well in recruiting to not be good.

the challenge that everyone has in looking at GA is just the # of questions they have due to inexperience...the QB, by all accounts is a matter of when, not if, he'll be great.

in addition they're unknowns in the front 7, wr, rb health...but if Chubb is 100%, and if the QB develops faster, and if the front 7 talent gels, they can be a serious contender this year.

but it still hinges on "if". GA right now is at worst an 8 win team. and they're capable of winning a couple games they maybe shouldn't. i don't think anyone should discount GA. there's reasons to question them, but no reason to dismiss them.

What I'm SAYING is that this OC you're touting as a messiah of mobile QBs couldn't coach a 6'6 dude to even fall down for a first down...which combined with a tunnel vision towards passing over running makes his offenses critically one dimensional. Consider this a first hand thank you to all you obnoxious Dawg blowhards droning over and over about how crappy Jancek and Martinez would be for us...cuz they were for you. This be da flip side. :hi:

LOL. I have not made one comment that comes remotely close to suggesting I think Chaney is a messiah. Go back and read my first post in here where I said that many Georgia fans are in wait and see mode when it comes to Chaney. After the bad experience last year with Schottenheimer, a lot of Georgia fans aren't going to get excited about Chaney until he produces on the field. I have also never said one word about Jancek or Martinez. The point about Chaney allowing the QB the freedom to move out of the pocket has nothing to do with his abilities as a coach or play caller. It's more about the general concept of making the QBs more comfortable by letting them leave the pocket when they start feeling pressure...start getting uncomfortable...confused by the coverage. Richt wanted the QBs to stand in the pocket...calmly go through their reads...and hit the open receiver. IMO, that was always a fantasy land scenario that rarely translated to the field. The reality is closer to what Bill Walsh taught; which is by the time a QB gets to their second read, there are usually O-Linemen and D-Linemen in their face or at their feet...so they better get moving. None of which has anything to do with Chaney's coaching ability. I do like Chaney's stated philosophy though; that 60% of throws are movement throws. Anything is better than standing in the pocket like a statue like a sitting duck going through your progressions.

It can be sliced and diced however but no one definitively knows who can come back and when. Do I think Chubb will be "back" by Sept? Most likely. Do I think he'll be "effective" the first half of the year? Most likely not. Just my opinion but I don't think he'll see significant contact minutes before us and will probably still be uncomfortable with "live" game action of cutting and contact. And the inexperience of their OL may play a role in the ineffectiveness as well.

Again, I could be completely wrong and he could run all-world on us but I don't see that happening. Regardless, we still have Sony Michel to worry about. I was just as concerned about him last year when Chubb went down and rightfully so given his performance.

I feel a lot of people are overlooking the realities of medical science because of Chubb's ridiculous work ethic. A superior work ethic can certainly help with rehab, but the reality is a lot of players never regain their ability to get their knee to react like it did prior to the injury, regardless of how hard they rehab. Won't get into details on here, but there are just some physiological realities that are beyond the player's control. I just hope he doesn't over do it. The trainers are constantly having to remind him to dial things back some. Sony is a good back, I just don't think he has the stamina that Chubb has. Chubb never seems to look tired to me.

With our defense and DC this year, there is no offense in college football that I fear. If we lose a game this year, I think we will be blaming it on poor production from the offense and most likely the passing game specifically or play calling mistakes. I predict that we will have a top 5 overall defense this year.

I'm hoping that having this defense to rely on, will instill a little gunslinger mentality in the offensive play calling and maybe result in some of those elusive 'Big' plays. Confidence in stopping power could boost 'Go for it"! 2016 need to be lights out offense, this 'D' can provide the insurance.

i think there a lot of folks on The Hill that are excited about the prospect of not having to protect the defense this season.

"Cheese eating surrender monkey" is the term for the French I believe you may have meant. Correct, like our DL, DL coach, and now one of the best in the country DC is chopped liver?!?!?! Butch please! Lol

Gotta be careful about using "monkey" nowadays. Steven Adams is a Kiwi and used it innocently and had to apologize (even tho I'm sure he didn't know why). :nono: I use French butt presenter and the only ones who get offended are the French...and who cares? :)

Told you guys that GA's offense would be tough, but, no, I was wrong. We won and I am ecstatic, but, Eason is the real deal, and a perfect fit for Chaney, gonna be tough next year.
