If it is Kirby Smart, Hart has either gone against what he indicated, someone with head coaching experience, or he couldn't get anyone else, and I can't believe that. My guess is that his guy is still coaching, like Charlie Strong. I believe Gruden, Stoops, and Fisher are out of the picture. I wouldn't rule out a surprise pick, someone we haven't been talking about.

I wish more people would do the same. It does get a little entertaining reading some of these posts though.

Ever heard the phrase "once bitten, twice shy"? We've seen our administration F up the last two coaching searches. Most people are like me and don't have a lot of faith in the current administration, Cheek, Hart. They scare me to death.. Hope They prove me wrong

The way hart is going about the coaching search scares me. He may be pulling a rope a dope on all of us. I really hope so. Tennessee can't afford a bad hire. He needs to get Gruden or Patterson.

Stoops is out, Peterson is out, who else is left? All the other proven coaches out there have character issues. The new sanctions make them a bad idea.

I would accept Strong. I know some don't like him but he has had success as a DC in the SEC. He addresses a need, and pisses off the Gators. He is probably not a long term solution but his recruiting connections to Florida will really help the rebuild. I will accept him because he will leave the cabinet full, and could break out as a great coach on top of it.

If Hart has to hire another scrub. I am buying stock in Jack Daniels. :hi:

This is Hart's first time football coach searching at UT so I am trying to stay positive. In all fairness I have no idea who would be the best pick. Notre Dame fans wanted Meyer but got Kelley so only time will tell.

I would put old Butch Davis on the list if Al Golden is.

If Fisher said no, then it's probably Golden. Boosters say Hart is going his own way and working his own list, and if they're nervous, there's probably reason to be.

I think he has interviews coming up in New York. Gruden is not coming. Gruden expected Hart to make him an offer without an interview. When Hart told him they needed to have an interview, Gruden picked up his toys and went home. Gruden would have been a terrible fit. I think there are 4 people on the short list and he will make a selection by next Wednesday. I like Petrino if we can get him.

Gruden is out of the running. He refused to be interviewed by Hart. He felt like he should get an automatic offer.

If Gruden does not work out I think Strong would no doubt hes still learning but I think he understands defense and we gotta get one if we ever expect to compete in this league.
