How Hart is handling the coaching search? We keep hearing "he already has his guy" or "there has never been a more secretive coaching search ever". I get a little nervous for 2 reasons:
If Hart has his "guy" why is he not making it public? It is only a little over 2 weeks until the recruiting dead period. The longer we wait, the harder it is going to be to get a decent recruiting class.
Secondly, It's not like Hart has ever had to do this before on a big stage. East Carolina is not UT.
I hope like hell he knows what he's doing and gets it right. Otherwise, our football program is in a heap of trouble.

There will not be a hire made until after this weekend. Then Hart can talk to the coaches that he is interested in that are playing in bowls. I predict that we will have a coach hired by Dec. 15. He then will try to get his staff hired between then and the Feb. recruiting signing date.

That would be horrible for this years recruiting. The dead period starts Dec 16 so he would be behind the 8 ball immediately. Hart needs to make a decision by the end of next week at the latest to salvage recruiting

Either of these hires would be extremely disappointing IMO. Fisher has one of the most talented teams in the country and he couldn't win out in a very weak ACC, what would make anyone think he would win in the SEC?

Don't know much about Golden except he is supposedly an up and coming coach...I think we just got rid of one that was supposed to be up and coming.

I honestly believe if the new coach turns out to be a bad hire our program will be done for a very long time. We will become the new Miami, just another has been.

Not nervous at all. I've accepted the idea of pulling for a mediocre team for the rest of my life.

Still think Gary Patterspn would be a GREAT hire ....

If ARKY can throw money at Les Miles

Then That's what we should do to Patterson

Has Hart even confirmed any interviews? Seems like all of the other schools are conducting daily interviews but nothing official from Hart.

Id love UT to throw 10m/yr at Saban just to make Bama match it. If they dont, we get him, if they do, it affects their budget. They arent letting him go

God forbid we dont hold our coaching search in the public eye, we are not here to win public opinion but hire the right coach. which incidentally, not matter who it is, will not be known for a couple of years.

It is eerily quiet. No news on any interviews. Heard on radio today that they contacted several agents of coaches and were told UT has not been in contact with any of them. Very strange to say the least.

I don't have any idea, who the hire will be. However, I do feel the announcement will be made sometime next week because of all the Conference Championship games this weekend. In spite of what Hart initially said, head coaching experience for the next HC is NOT chiseled in stone.

It better be!! If Hart goes out and hires an unproven coach I will give up my 4 season tix .

Since I don't know JACK about hiring a head football coach for a university, I guess I'll wait to form my opinion after the coach is announced and I see the results on the field.
