Yeah I understand and agree bro. I work at a hospital and we have people come in all the time with all sorts of withdrawals and they are almost like weak demons tbh. Beer usually don’t cause problems though. The alcohol percentage is so low that it would take like 24 a day to get cirrhosis. General surgeon told me that the other day tbh lol he said he personally hadn’t seen a cirrhosis patient who got it from beer. Always very hard liquor and drinking it straight out of the bottle every day in large amounts

Yup. My mother was a nurse. She had a patient that was trying to quit drinking. This guy had drank a fifth of hard liquor every day for over 30 years. He became so cruel because of the withdrawls that they had to put him on an alcohol drip.

I read today that he had substance abuse issues going back to his early HS years. I’m unable to remember the source at the moment and of course do not know if it is true.
I read that too. I thinking it progressed to Opioids after his injury. I honestly wish him the best he’s one of my favorite VOLS of all time

Have a friend who fell, busted himself up, broke his leg badly and ended up in the hospital. After a few days he was moved to ICU for SEVERE alcohol withdrawl because they feared he would die. Full blown DTs, convulsions, hallucinations, the whole nine yards.. Unfortunately he didn't learn, still drinks and has pretty much ruined his life.

Agree it’s definitely a disease. Coming off a lot of stuff cold turkey can literally kill you as well.

Coming off most drugs rarely kills you, it makes you want to be dead, but you live through it anyway. Coming off severe alcoholism CAN kill you.

Alcohol by far is the most destructive substance in our land. As a child of an alcoholic and three brothers who were addicted (one died of alcohol induced liver failure and another is on the verge of it as well) I am still struggling with issues from my childhood because of my dad's alcoholism. I had a career were I saw the worst of people and probably 70% of the issues were alcohol/drug related. I just think of all the families LITERALLY destroyed by King Alcohol...a national tragedy!

Per CDC, 95,000 deaths per year due to excessive alcohol use..

Edit: 2012, 3.3 million deaths worldwide attributed to alcohol... 😳

He's taking some time off. We all know that this isn't the most opportune time in our business, but he has to do what's best for him and his family right now and he has my and the station's support 100%.

No. And I personally find it repugnant that you would feel the need to share that false information in a public forum behind a faceless nickname.

Thanks for the update sir. You and Cain are doing a darn fine job in his absence.

Im sorry, Its no disease. Ive never seen a disease where you have to get in your car and drive to a specific location and make a purchase.

I doubt you have the experience to judge someone that is going through this and thank God if you haven’t. You are stupid for starting but once you start it’s one of the worse things you could ever go through. Thanks to the ignorance of doctors in 2001 I had a dependence on OxyContin. It was the grace of God (and that I couldn’t physically do anything about it) that I didn’t continue to use. But for 36 hours I would have shot up heroin or knocked over a Walgreens to relieve what I was going through. I found out I was lucky I didn’t have a stroke. It took 6 months or so to lose that edge. It was worse than the wreck that put me there. It’s a disease that you give yourself but like a disease, sometimes there is no cure.

Thanks for the update, Brian. Please give Eric our respect and love. We hope he’s back soon.

and thanks for putting this guy in his place. Absolutely terrible to spread tactless rumors, especially hiding behind a keyboard and alternate name. That’s why I’ve used my real name since signing on in 2008.

Talked to a very reliable source close to him and they said he was bk using. I hate that for the big fella because he is a very genuine guy.

Don’t do this, it’s not cool. And if you’re going to, post the source and your name as well. Tactless and trashy. Ban worthy imo, but at least we have a block option, so thanks for the red flag

Is self righteousness acceptable to you?

still tactless and shady. Funny how easy it is for ppl to throw shade on others and drag their name through the mud when there’s no consequences. Would Mr. Conley want someone doing it to him or someone in his family? I personally think the nickname thing is fine, until you start name dropping others and their personal problems.
