That doesn't sound bad at all and I'm with you. 99.4 % of coviders recover very nicely...I highly doubt the other is that successful.

Agree it’s definitely a disease. Coming off a lot of stuff cold turkey can literally kill you as well.

Praying for your strength brother. When the urge comes just pray. I was also told family is seeking to send him to treatment.

Ainge also has a personality disorder and that is enough to explain what is happening. A fever would also explain his behavior. Either way or whatever. It can be life or death. He could just be sick. I'll back him up, most of the time. He bleeds orange, even when he makes stuff up.

This. From personal experience, 90% or more of the opiate users ...whether its heroin, fentanyl, or just ever increasing amounts of pain pills, they all started out on doctor prescribed pain meds. Many times from a surgery or injury such as at work . We have a group meeting at our church every week for addicts in various stages of recovery and their spouses...3 out of 4 are opiates.

I have read up a lot about this, because it has affected my life and my extended family too...and in the 2000s doctors and hospitals were taught to treat pain as "the 5th vital sign" and to treat patients pain until it went away ....at the same time that Big Pharma was pushing new and stronger pain medicines (oxycontin, Opana, etc) which were not only much stronger than say..hydrocodone, but much, much more addictive. So what happened? I read in 2009 I believe enough pain pills were prescribed in the US for EVERY man woman and child to have a 3 month, 90 pill prescription. In that 1 year alone. Pill mills popped up everywhere to serve the addicted when their primary care doctors cut them off.... tens of millions of addicts. More people die of opiate overdose in the US EVERY YEAR NOW than were killed in the entire Viet Nam war on our side. Every. Year .

So the Feds see that this is becoming a huge problem, change the laws and start arresting doctors at pill mills and taking their licenses also. Doctors panic. Refuse to write scripts for pain pills at all anymore unless you have a terminal illness like cancer. They will refer you to a pain management clinic at most...which are super expensive, and require weekly pill checks, urine tests that you have to pay for etc....not possible for most folks unless they are rich.

So what are all these opiate addicts gonna do now, their brains are rewired...can't get pain pills anywhere...enter heroin and fentanyl from the street. Courtesy of China and Mexico...they flooded the US with a much cheaper alternative to pain clinics....and now we have a heroin epidemic. Tens of millions of Americans from ALL walks of life, all income levels, all races and religions....all junkies now. Thats where we are today... and the only solution the Feds have is to lock up the users. Or let them die....

I hope Ainge can beat his demons. Many Americans simply cannot...and they either go to prison or die.

It's very odd how it's being handled on air as well. He abruptly left in the middle of the show with no explanation, and there hasn't been one given since. Normally, they will say he's sick, on vacation, taking care of his daughters broken arm, etc. This time, it's just, we hope Eric will be back soon. Speculation can be anything. I just hope things work out whichever way they need to.

That's a very accurate post. Most don't realize it but China has been at war with US for several years and flooding our streets with those drugs has been very effective for them. CHINA IS A HUGE PROBLEM FOR US. BUT there's a lot of politicians who make a lot of money from China and that's why they havent taken on China until the last couple of years (still a huge uphill battle because several will be outed when its exposed). Now I don't intend that to be a political statement and probably many on this board are aware of it. Praying we continue to call out China because they are reeking havoc all over the world!

I spoke with one of the head nurses at Peninsula a few years back. I asked him what the worst withdrawls he has ever seen was. He told me that heroin with drawls were absolutely horrible, but alcohol withdrawls were the worst. He had seen people die from both. I drink a lot of beer, but thankfully, I can skip days drinking it. I certainly feel for those that can't, but if you do not have an addictive personality it is just so hard to relate. I myself do not have an addictive personality and have struggled to understand addicts and their decisions and urges. I have seen so many tragic endings involving friends over the years. It's very, very sad. I certainly don't believe that locking people in prison for having drugs is the answer and treatment is a much better choice for society as a whole.

I like Eric and enjoy his show and his input. I do know he struggles with some mental issues and certainly hope that he can pull himself out of his funk. Prayers for you brother.

He's taking some time off. We all know that this isn't the most opportune time in our business, but he has to do what's best for him and his family right now and he has my and the station's support 100%.

Yeah I understand and agree bro. I work at a hospital and we have people come in all the time with all sorts of withdrawals and they are almost like weak demons tbh. Beer usually don’t cause problems though. The alcohol percentage is so low that it would take like 24 a day to get cirrhosis. General surgeon told me that the other day tbh lol he said he personally hadn’t seen a cirrhosis patient who got it from beer. Always very hard liquor and drinking it straight out of the bottle every day in large amounts

I read today that he had substance abuse issues going back to his early HS years. I’m unable to remember the source at the moment and of course do not know if it is true.
