IRS admits to targeting Conservative groups

I understand that this person was not an ABC reporter, but doesn't ABC have control over whom they allow on their news shows?

Sure. That doesn't mean they endorse what he said.

Which is the clear (and incredibly misleading) intent of the story.

I asked you before what is the difference between this guy and James Carville, DD Myers and George Stephanopoulos?

Never hear you complain when they give their opinions and I would classify them as Democratic operatives.

If someone quoted Carville or Myers as saying that Obama did nothing wrong, then all of you conservatives on here would say "pshaw, of course he/she said that!" And you'd pay it no heed.

Because you know who they are.

But this headline, citing to some guy no one but the true insiders could identify, as an "ABC political analyst" is intended to bury his political bias so far down that everyone just exclaims "Oh my gosh, an ABC guy says Obama was behind it!"

Its intended to mislead.

Acting Director of the IRS Steven Miller was asked for his resignation by Treasury Secretary Jack Lew and Miller has resigned.

Question asked at today's presser.

Obama was specifically asked, according to a White House transcript, “Can you assure the American people that nobody in the White House knew about the agency’s actions before your counsel’s office found out on April 22nd?”

He responded: “…Let me make sure that I answer your specific question. I can assure you that I certainly did not know anything about the IG report before the IG report had been leaked through the press. Typically, the IG reports are not supposed to be widely distributed or shared. They tend to be a process that everybody is trying to protect the integrity of. But what I’m absolutely certain of is that the actions that were described in that IG report are unacceptable.”

"Let me make sure I answer your specific question while I make sure I do not give you an answer that addresses anything about your specific question."

The second IRS official has resigned, Joseph Grant who was in charge of IRS Tax Exemption Division.

Would not surprise me if a special prosecutor is ultimately appointed by the WH to look at who made the decision to put greater focus on the Tea Party groups.

Obama: No Special Prosecutor Needed for IRS | National Review Online

A special prosecutor is not necessary to investigate the IRS’s targeting of conservative groups, President Obama said this afternoon. His announcement comes despite calls from a number of conservative lawmakers urging the Justice Department to assign a special counsel to lead an investigation into the matter.

“I think that it’s going to be sufficient for us to be working with Congress, they’ve got a whole bunch of committees, we’ve got IGs already there, the IG has done an audit; it’s now my understanding they’re going to be recommending an investigation,”

There is a lot of potential for damage to the long term effectiveness of an agency by subjecting it to that. If evidence comes to light of a concerted effort to go after those organizations for political bias, it would have to be considered.

I think Congress can appoint one. Might be too bold a step here.

It's almost like you think the idea that only groups against Obamas agenda being targeted was purely coincidence. Is that about right?

And you prove your ignorance.

Left wing groups were also subjected to it. In fact, ONLY a few left wing groups were denied the status !!

Yet another inconvenient fact for you.

IRS Official in Charge During Tea Party Targeting Now Runs Health Care Office - ABC News
