by a few years ago you mean the 80s? Russia's interest rate JUST dropped below 15%. we peaked at what 8% in the 2020s, if that?

Inflation they are currently better than our worst in 2022, but this is after YEARS of being worse than us in 2022. There current annual inflation is still ~70% more than ours, 3.3% in the US vs 5.7% in Russia.

Nope. Just tired of being their protector. Time for them to pony up for their own defense. I'm fine with pulling out all of our troops from their bases. The sooner the better.

I would be too. but this Iran mess is very clearly NOT a NATO issue.

they are only getting drug into this as a distraction.

NATO is getting brought up as a distraction from how unprepared Trump was for this war.

he has tried to claim the issues were because he didn't get the support he wanted from the NATO nations. this was never a NATO fight to expect NATO to show up to help us.

The fact that Iran is even considered the “good guys” in any context is a testament to how poorly the world views America and Israel.

We are the most power nation on this planet. People hate the Dodgers, they hated Brady, they hated the lakers... No one hates the Miami Marlins though.

I agree with this bc it’s an almost certainly that putting their citizens through more hardship will have little to no effect so far as turning their Leaders’ negotiating strategy, and their citizens will grudgingly just sit back and take it rather than cause too much of an uproar. Hell, in the unlikely event that it did cause protesting or even a feeble uprising attempt, Iranian leadership would not care that much and would squash it like a bug if needed.

One question though, is it possible that the economic hardship caused could interfere with their finances enough as to put a strain on the regime’s ability to pay those that are instrumental in their ability to maintain the stranglehold they have on policy, infrastructure, and the country on the whole? Or is that even something that they would be concerned about at all?

Assistant U.S. Secretary for the Bureau of Arms Control and Nonproliferation Christopher Yeaw denounced the seating of Iran as a farce and an “affront” to the NPT, given that Iran has indisputably “demonstrated its contempt for non-proliferation commitments.”

“Rather than choosing to use this review conference to defend the integrity of the NPT and call Iran to account, we instead elect Iran a vice president. It is beyond shameful, and an embarrassment to the credibility of this conference,” Yeaw said.

The U.S. was joined in its objections by the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Australia, the United Kingdom, France, and Germany.

U.N. Watch Executive Director Hillel Neuer told Fox News Digital on Tuesday that Iran’s vice-presidency at the NPT conference was “part of a disturbing trend,” which also included Iran’s absurd nomination on April 13 to a U.N. body concerned with human rights, women’s rights, and counterterrorism.

“Iran has been accumulating senior roles across the U.N. system, from human rights bodies to key committees. Each appointment chips away at the credibility of international institutions, reinforcing the perception that political deal-making outweighs basic standards of conduct,” Neuer warned.

The IAEA formally declared Iran to be in non-compliance with its nuclear non-proliferation obligations in June 2025, after which Israel and the United States launched airstrikes against Iran’s uranium enrichment facilities. Tehran’s continued determination to acquire nuclear weapons prompted the U.S. and Israel to launch a wider series of strikes in March, a campaign named Operation Epic Fury by the United States.

To infer the standard to be considered “bad guys” is nothing short of total anillihation of a country and then to proceed with that ridiculous analogy is a good illustration of why the average foreigner thinks we’re the bad guys
