Per WSJ two US destroyers approached the Strait and were challenged by Iran. US ships declared that they were passing through per the ceasefire and proceeded to do so. They operated in the Persian Gulf and departed through the Strait without incident.

So Iran is rather full of it with this statement. Both US destroyers transited the strait without incident and are currently in the Persian Gulf. Not to say things can’t go south at a later date but their claim in this statement is clearly false.

No I’m not surprised that they made a false statement. However had they chose to send 30 or 40 missiles and/or drones at those two destroyers things could have gone horribly wrong. The purpose of this transit was supposedly to start mine clearing operations which honestly Iran might support behind closed doors and regardless of what is said via public statements
