I doubt any of us were particularly intelligent about politics at 14. He's repeating talking points that come from a side he thinks it's the correct one. It's pretty much the starting point for everyone. Difference is when I was 14 the access to info was nowhere near where it is today. Some of the things being repeated sound like they come straight from a chat bot.
