"Sri Lanka has evacuated 208 crew members of an Iranian navy vessel, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake said, a day after a US submarine struck and sank another Iranian frigate.

He said Sri Lanka’s navy will also take over the second vessel and shift it to the northeastern port of Trincomalee for safekeeping amid fears that it could be a target for an attack."

So the US was also invited and knew the Iranian Navy would be unarmed. Withdrew and waited on their return to attack and sink their ship just to display it to the American public like it was and active warship. Rather dishonorable action in my estimation.

What are you saying?

Do you realize international law is covered by their obligation to uphold lawful orders. So if the president says bomb a school full of children, your obligation is to say no.

US case law supports this. William Calley couldn't successfully defend himself for "just following orders" with the Mai Lai massacre.

I get the whole "AI deep fake" thing, but I'm not sure how practical it actually would be to frame someone in such a way. If someone committed a crime in public, there is likely a public camera on that individual, people with cell phones taking videos, and there is likely corroborating cell phone data on the individual himself. Maybe we could go really deep into the conspiracy weeds and say that the .gov could plant video footage in a business (assuming the crime is committed at a public business), plant footage on someone's phone, and plant cell phone biometric and location data on someone, but that seems pretty extreme. I'm not even factoring in DNA forensics.

Again, like I said, we pretty much know who does what nowadays.
