It's something that started earlier than you say, and it ebbed and flowed. Lincoln was out of control. So was Teddy Roosevelt. So was Wilson, So was FDR. It's not linear. The next guy is not likely to match Trump. Most likely, we will chill out. Don't just throw your hands up and say, "It was great while it lasted, and now I'll just hope for a hard reset that goes OK."

If we can bring ourselves to vote for decent people next election who set a better precedent going forward, we may be able to kick this can down the road to a generation that can actually solve it, instead of handing dynamite with seconds of fuse left off to our kids.

I mean, it would be nice to just be able to have Americans vote for all true republic minded style representatives (who are they?), but that will never happen unless something major and BAD happens and we basically get a do over.
