It's not semantics, the Gerald Ford protects itself contrary to your assertion. The larger battle group has capabilities however, namely the two or three destroyers who can work independently, especially in friendly waters. If the mission was to protect Israel a destroyer could be parked with a few support vessels. But that's not the mission. Admit it and move on.

They're mission is to protect assets in that region, a region unprotected and within missile range of Iranian missiles. We have bases in the Mediterranean as well as assets in Israel.

This doesn't even approach treason. Hyperbole

And this isn't correct. We put our newest most advanced carrier in theatre with access to effect the targets offensively.

It is a safer location as there is a larger open blind spot in the Mediterranean, on the straight side we have at least 5 air bases in the Gulf and only a few spread out widely in the Mediterranean.

It makes tactical sense to have your assets spread out, also puts pressure on Iranian proxies in places like Lebanon and Syria. Your assertion it's deployment is to prioritize Israel for defense completely ignores basic fundamentals of naval warfare and tactics.
