Iran

Interestingly, we kind of succeeded in Iraq (it wasn't worth it).

What were our goals:

1. Get rid of Saddam - Check
2. Rebuild Iraq into a Democracy - Check, it isn't perfect but they have an elected government
3. Eliminate Iraq as a regional threat - Check

Now Afghanistan is another story...
We left a nest of vipers in tact in Iran. We are justified in taking out the IRGC, the Basij, and the top leadership. We can then reach out to the assembly leaders and opposition leaders, and negotiate changes in their governing structure/ constitution and hold new elections.

We should follow the same blueprint in Venezuela.

Wanting the regime that sends proxies to kill Americans to fall is “Israel first”? Calling someone out for being stupid is a lot easier than arguing with someone who is stupid. Facts don’t matter to stupid people and if you are aligned with Eastern and Huff, expect to be called stupid.

That was the same argument made about Saddam Hussein's regime, but let's go ahead and start yet another war we can neither finish nor afford just because some people on TV say we should flush the lives of 18-year-old Americans down the toilet by the bushel overseas because a few people are scared because of TV propaganda while others want to profit. Maybe this time our wounded soldiers and the widows of the dead ones won't be reduced to beggars on national TV on those Wounded Warrior-type ads while our politicians and the oligarchs of multinational corporations laugh all the way to the bank.

Come talk to me when Trump does this. Meanwhile I’m waiting to see what his solution is. Trump is averse to dead Americans and “wars”. Islamists won’t let Iran fall without a fight, it’s their headquarters for destruction. Should be interesting.

Epstein's Buddy-in-Chief already got these two guys killed just a few weeks ago.

They probably signed up with good intentions, to defend the USA, but one should've had an Exxon flag draped on his coffin and the other an Israel flag. That's who their lives were completely flushed down the toilet for.

Stationed at a base is not battle . Btw, I’d bet the payback was x1000.

No offense but you haven't really shown much in the way of original thought here yourself.

All valid points.

I would add, I don't think there is anyway they are successful without outside help.
it could be argued quiet easily that our previous involvement lead to this issue. so even in country we have an example of why we should stay out, even if we are reducing today's impact, the butterfly effect has been kicking our butt for a while.

Lmfao yes. Clearly that’s the issue.

Not all military operations = war.
if any of those countries did the reverse to the US, how would you consider it?

based on 9/11 I would say the majority of Americans would consider it an act of war, and rally around support of a counteroffensive war.

just because we are punching down to such an extreme level that our enemies are incapable of striking back doesn't make it any less of a war.

yall are splitting hairs down to the atom to try and defend every inch of Trump.

Looks like the 2 were in Syria for the ongoing Operation Inherent Resolve that was formally established by.... Barack Obama.

Your counter doesn’t work here because those countries aren’t the US.

There is no war. You’re over analyzing everything to try to pretend Trump lied. No one thought when he said no new wars, he meant “our military will do nothing for 4 years”

Y'all should all go over to the Venezuela thread where this whole "No new wars" crap has already been debunked. Save some typing callouses.
If it walks like a duck, swims like a duck, quacks like a duck, looks like a duck, has every qualification of a duck, but you are stuck saying "its not a duck its a mallard", you are trying to bury the lede.

"We are at war with the United States".

They've got hit on President Trump, which I'm sure you are good with.

My point remains, Germany did nothing to attack us yet we entered the European theater.
uhmmmmm, what?

the germans had adopted unrestricted submarine warfare since late 1939. we lost a destroyer to German uboats more than a month before Pearl Harbor, the Reuben James. thats not counting all of the US merchant ships they sunk.

how about the reasonable "our military will only do defensive operations in existing areas of conflict"? is that too much to expect.

its not like we went in and just kidnapped a drug lord from Venezuela via the CIA. US military assets went into a foreign nation, killed some of those foreigners, not criminals, struck multiple military and infrastructure sites across the country, and kidnapped their president.

yall are ignoring any analysis of events, to justify anything Trump does. I would be more willing to listen to that argument if you weren't constantly being the boy who cries (no) wolf.

From what I can tell, the headline is "Muh! Trump promised no more wars". Seems appropriate to dissect that clim within context of whyat he actually claimed, which I've done in the VZ thread.

Equivocation is handy, yet not very good faith.

New needs arise. We can still address those without “war”.

I don’t see the problem. Y’all are playing this nonsense chicken little game where you falsely pretend everything is Iraq. It’s a joke. We don’t have to be fully passive to avoid another Iraq. There’s a ton of middle ground there
