He needed that attack for congress to declare war. Remember that back then POTUS didn’t have the authority to commit US troops without congressional authorization. Plus the American people had no desire for a war.

But in any instance there was still going to be an attack.

If it's as simple as he leaves or remains, that's fine with me.
I think that’s fair. Although, if he even attempts to run a campaign, a soft coup, or anything of the like that is unconstitutional, I’ve proven my point at the least.

I’m sure it’s no better than all of the JFK books who blame various people/organizations
Hell, I even saw a JFK documentary on Amazon video that claimed that nobody killed JFK. It said his assassination was faked, and he lived out the rest of his life in hiding on a private island (presumably with Elvis).

Sorry that you are such a sheep you can’t see past what you’re taught by the government.
The government taught me very little about WW2. Most I learned on my own. It's a shame you are so jaded that you look at history through today's lense.

That’s odd. Usually when people are polite enough to recommend a fairly well sold / award winning book to me, I just say thank you, and take a look at the overview to see if it interests me. Different strokes I guess.

Run a campaign, soft coup are ambiguous words.

How about we agree on the terms so far. And if we get to anything that's a judgement call, we'll let the board decide or maybe even better, both donate.

Whatchoo think '40?
