So the sad truth is that it is in Iran's best interest as a country and more importantly from its leader's perspective... to get a get out of jail free card by getting nukes.

If I were them I would tuck tail at this point, pretend to get along with everybody and build a new facility so far underground that it's unreachable by any weapons and then build a bomb. And then a year or two from now, present it to the world and say hey we're now nuclear armed so you can't f*** with us.

I'm not advocating this. I don't like Iran more than anybody else here, but this is the wise path for them and I don't see how you prevent it. Unless there's a diplomatic route.

Last thought... We have nukes. Yet we tell other sovereign countries, you can't have nukes. If I'm that third party country I'm like who the f*** are you to tell me what I can or what I can't do?

Or they could just be like Qatar, UAE, Jordan, Switzerland, New Zealand, or 97% of the world's nations and just stop causing problems. Iran is one of a few nations that starts crap. If they behaved like a Qatar or Switzerland, they would be fine. Heck, even acting like Turkey would work. You don't see USA, Israel, or anyone having beef with those nations.

There is a handful of nations that are just crap and deserved to be punched in the mouth. They are Russia, Iran, North Korea, China (to lesser extent), Venezuela, sometimes Cuba, Afghanistan, Belarus, and possibly Cuba at times (they have mellowed out). Iraq was in this camp with Saddam but are now off the list. Most of the rest of the world doesn't start crap. People who defend these nations are clearly clueless.

Lately Israel has started to be problematic though.

If Iran behaved liked Switzerland or Qatar, would they be in the spot they are at now? Would they need a nuke? Would their people be better off?

If you watch the British documentary "WW2 - Call of Duty" Episode 9 (2020), you will see that they fall just short of saying that FDR did in fact know of the Pearl Harbor attack and did not let the Pacific fleets know. The program infers that all the Pacific commanders knew something was up, but were led to believe it would be in the Philippine / New Guinea area.
