I did see from what seemed a reputable source that the fire burned 30 hours and hundreds of beds were in need of replacement due to smoke damage.

That said, it has been in deployment a long time and 1 year maintenance overhaul and a work up isnt unreasonable.

It was an issue seen throughout. They were known for fighting till death, very few were taken prisoner. And the way they treated their prisoners was beyond horrific. Japanese prisoners were nearly 10x more likely to die than those taken by Germany.
