I remember reading somewhere that they were discussing the protection of fuel tankers through the gulf and strait. It's actually quite surprising to me that our military hasn't been able to counter Iran's closing of the strait. Not good.

Absolutely. Part of why I’m anti-Trump is because he isn’t doing that. He said all the right things in his campaign. He’s doing all the wrong things.

I’m not for DJT either, I’ll support him because he’s the President; but he’s been underwhelming on the home front.

The crater was on par in size with the other craters in the surrounding buildings which are not in dispute that we hit.

And it was apparently big enough to kill 175 civilians mostly children.

What the Vietnam lesson would imply for a war with Iran

If analysts apply the Vietnam experience to Iran, they usually draw several strategic lessons.

Lesson 1 — Bombing rarely forces regime collapse by itself

Even very heavy bombing usually does not break political will, especially in nationalist or authoritarian states.

Lesson 2 — Air power works better for limited goals

Bombing could:

damage nuclear facilities

destroy military infrastructure

slow weapons programs

But it would probably not force Iran to surrender or change regime alone.

Lesson 3 — National resistance can increase

Like Vietnam, heavy bombing might:

strengthen domestic unity

weaken internal opposition to the regime.

Bottom line:
The Vietnam War suggests that bombing alone is usually insufficient to force a determined country into submission, especially in wars involving guerrilla tactics or strong political motivation. But it does not prove air power is useless—it shows that bombing works best as part of a broader strategy, not as the sole instrument of war.

Wow. His level of hubris and pure ignorance is off the charts. That this is THE guy in charge is frightening.

Based upon his "we're so powerful that we can bomb any nation into submission" mantra, this war is not going to go as planned. And I don't see it ending anytime soon.
