Not everyone forward deploys. Not everyone spends massive amounts of time away from family. In fact, it's much, much less than you think.

EDIT: next time I see you all thanking State Department employees, Peace Corps members, USAID contractors, etc. etc. for their service because they went somewhere without their families I'll have a little more respect for the argument. Military is far from the only job with sacrifices.

You can't be serious with this answer.

Whether the individual was in direct action units, infantry, motorpool, supply, etc.. They enlisted, gave their oath at MEPS and proceeded to move forward with their chosen MOS. You don't have to show respect, that's your choice. Don't 💩 on them though.

Couple of random thoughts -

early in the day the Iranian spokesperson fella did a perfect Baghdad Bob impersonation.

About 1/2 hour ago I thought I heard on the news that Iran was about to launch it's biggest offensive ever on Israel, our bases in the region and other gulf states. Why make a statement like that when you can't back it up (hopefully)?

It is probably the most ignorant place on the internet. The ignorance on that site is truly something to behold. If you stick solely to 1 specific subreddit focused on something (like my exact motorcycle) it can be interesting and even helpful finding parts etc. If you mention anything remotely Conservative or honest pertaining to life or politics, prepare to be banned at least temporarily. I recently made the mistake of leaving my specific bike subreddit, and commented in the thread about the recent tranny that murdered those people in the shooting in Canada. I merely said " no way the mass shooter is another "trans" person. The TV says that doesn't happen." I got banned for 3days for " promoting hate or violence towards a group of people." 🤣 They have a very Leftist algorithm that erases posts and gives bans, followed up by Leftist humans who do the same. The main feed there is truly a cesspool of stupid on a scale not seen many other places.

I know several personally that have been deployed. One several times and another that is currently deployed.
Everyone that signed up knew there was a possibility of deployment though.
To characterize the active military and vets as welfare recipients is in bad taste bro…. It just is

Great. What are the numbers across the entire military for what you're describing? See also the edit on my post.

I never characterized all military members as welfare recipients. But this gung-ho attitude of treating Vets as demigods has lead to billions of fraud with disability abuse, set aside business abuse, and on and on and on.

You all act like I'm making **** up.

We went to college with a guy who was kinda the same. He didn't want to go back, but when we graduated he would be losing his student visa. He was trying to get into a grad school, but wasn't a fabulous student. I wonder where he is now. Really nice guy.

I typically agree with most of your points, but you’re openly spitting on the military.
You referred to it as a welfare state FFS.
You’re pulling the demigods out of your ass and belittling everyone that’s ever served.
If you want to point fingers on disability fraud then point at the doctors instead of the military as a whole
