Iran

I'm skeptical that even with a successful overthrow of the IR the Iranian people will be able to cobble together a functioning democracy.

There are still competing ideas that are far from compatible. The country is not united in some kind of Zoroastrian revival against Islam. I doubt there's even enough secular people in positions of wealth and abundance to prevent another theocracy or something equally unpalatable to consume the state within a decade or two all over again. Without becoming a puppet state, I see the instability of the region being too much to overcome. Maybe the best that could be hoped for is something akin to Turkey?

All that said, I cannot fault the people protesting one bit, not even to the point of murdering officers of the IR
That's indeed a big complicating factor. The regime's apparently been very effective in suppressing domestic dissent, and it's not like the late 1970's when Khomeini led a popular opposition movement from abroad. The Shah wannabe doesn't look to have much support at all among Iranians.
Turkey's creation was a different can of worms and one guy did a lot of the moving to shape it. Whether Iran has such a guy is TBC.

I think there is indeed support for Pahlavi, but only as an interim figure and if by chance he returned to Iran and tried to maintain power, we'd see another religiously inspired revolution.

If there ever was an Iranian Aaturk, he's surely dead by now

but who really knows?

You should stop believing anything you read in a tweet. I just randomly picked one thing from the tweet to look up. The Chikli quote.

Guess what….he never made that statement. Shocking, right?
You know you looked em all up…lol

Then practice what you preach…

None of this is complex, get out of all of it -> which is why people voted for the Orange bastard. Now, if that was too complex for them, I would follow one of my favorite movies (The Hateful Eight), with that in mind

- if you ask me for help, you get a bullet
- if you open your mouth to me, you get a bullet
- if a protestor (insurrectionist/rebel) is crying to me, you get a bullet
- if you mess with me, you get a bullet
- If you ask me for money, you get a bullet
- if you ask me for weapons, you get a bullet
- if you ask me to work with agents to overthrow countries, you get a bullet

Not a warning, not a question; a bullet. What will happen is everything will work out the way it should and you're on a path to peace.

lol practice what I preach? I asked you for evidence of your claim. You provided a false tweet.

What specifically are you asking? For me to link you to a quote that doesn’t exist?

If he made that statement, the burden is on you.

Hopefully Iranians and Venezuelans start to go home and rebuild their nations (if they want to). If both nations are strong and friendly to the USA, it will be a HUGE win. Both nations have great potential to do great things.

A peaceful and pro-Western Iran would change the face of the Middle East.

100%. I can understand mixed feelings from Americans about Venezuela...but at the same time have to praise the surgical precision with which we took down a Socialist dictator. We "cut the head off the snake" and minimized casualties in a manner nobody else on Earth could have done.

As far as Iran goes...this oppressive regime has not only screamed "Death to America" in the news for decades, they keep trying to build nuclear weapons and lying about it. They put a mutli-million dollar bounty on our president. More importantly they are THE largest sponsor of terrorism on Earth and the reason that Hezbollah, Hamas, and other terrorist organizations have the rockets, explosives, small arms and military equipment that enables them to attack Israel and US forces abroad. In the Middle East and in Africa. This government in Iran IS our enemy and has been for decades. Responsible for thousands of dead and crippled US soldiers from IEDs and attacks. I have absolutely zero problem with our military conducting airstrikes and Tomahawk attacks on specific government assets in order to swing the battle in favor of the citizens fighting for their freedom. In fact, I hope that we do and I am surprised we have not already. If by coincidence this uprising didn't occur at exactly the same time as Venezuela, I believe we would have likely conducted limited and careful strikes on their facilities already. Unlike our attempts at nation building in Iraq and Afghanistan, I dont see how a change in government could be worse in Iran. How do you get worse than biggest terrorism sponsor constantly trying to build nukes to destroy Israel? Killing Jews and US soldiers every chance they get? What's worse than that?
Don't the people of Iran deserve a chance to choose their own government?

**also thanks Obama for the Billions you gave this regime. Delivering pallets of cash by the dozens in seized assets. POS.
