Seems like a selling and inventory nightmare if you don't have some way to distinguish the models. When the next iPad launches is it an iPad? Will there just be a list of prices and you get whatever you can afford? Does the sales person have to verify which chip and camera you want? Seems strange.

I'm not opposed to having just the iPad, but I don't see how that works in the long run.

Probably start doing like iPod touch & put "3rd gen" etc on the label.

So why an IPAD instead of a kindle? So you can do work processing on the IPAD?

Anyone get it yesterday? I caved in and decided to drive up to my local Apple Store. They had plenty in stock at 4PM, which was a surprise. I got the 32gb Verizon one in black. I love it so far.

So the real question in my mind is how cheap will the Ipad 2s get and when will this happen?

they dropped $100 bucks, so I bough the ipad 2, 3g on Tuesday
the screen difference between the 2, and the 'new" wasn't enough for me to pay the extra $100 bucks for the new one

so can your ipad effectively replace your laptop?
Or are there certain things you can't do as well?
it would see like word processing/typing would be difficult to do as effectively.

An iPad will never replace a laptop or desktop computer. It's decent for word processing. You can always use Bluetooth keyboards or iPad cases with designated keyboards, but who wants to carry a keyboard with them or have some bulky case? I see the iPad as being more of a toy. It can get some light work done, but nothing big that you would expect a computer to do.

The iPad was never intended to replace a laptop or desktop, but it has become more powerful basically because the software. The new iLife apps are pretty strong. I use my iPad alot more than either my Mac laptop or desktop. When I need to do something big, then I'll fire them up. But when surfing net, email, social networking, bills, etc. I use the iPad. Just got the 3 and it is great.

I need a break from the technology world from time to time, which is why I don't have a smartphone or tablet. Too many people are tethered from the hip to the internet these days.

You'll dig all the cool apps. I've got one that you hold iPad up towards some trees and it tells you whether you can get direct or dish.. Shows their exact location in sky from where you're standing... There's one where you can take a pic of a leaf and it will tell you what kind of tree or plant.. Bunch of cool stuff

For those that have the iPad 2/3 do you guys have white or black? I'm planning on exchanging it because I decided I didn't need LTE. Might go with white.

Mines black
Figured it would stand up to the kids and their dirty fingers better than the white
