I didn't eat the turnip greens but I ate many a cornbread and buttermilk with my granddad as a kid.

That's the great thing about country churches, the ladies know their way around a stove! In fact we have our pre season Thanksgiving Dinner this coming Sunday! I can smell the Nanner Puddin' now!

I no longer go to a Baptist church, and I do miss the feasts that were had after every major event where all the old ladies would bring in casseroles of every type and everybody else brought fried chicken.

Now? We just have finger foods. Lacking I tell you.

And I am still searching for the fried chicken casserole recipe, the perfect Baptist food.
