Invasion on the southern border:

Some points that I am quoting from someone who followed the legal naturalization process.

"The speech was notable for some of the things Obama didn’t mention.

1. He lied about what his non-amnesty amnesty consisted of: “All we’re saying is we’re not going to deport you. Reality: “All we’re saying is we’re not going to deport you — and also, here’s a work permit, a Social Security number, and a driver’s license.”

2. He didn’t mention that his scheme will pull the plug on the Secure Communities program. The program checks the fingerprints of arrested criminal suspects against DHS records at the same time as they’re checked against FBI records. It is the lowest-common-denominator of immigration enforcement.

3. He didn't mention the extension of the validity of the “temporary” grant of Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) from two years to three, eliminating the upper age limit to qualify, and extending it to those who entered before age 18 instead of the previous 16.

None of the criteria Obama has laid out to qualify for amnesty benefits has any basis in law or even logic — they’re simply the result of political give and take, i.e., legislation. It’s just that instead of the people’s elected representatives debating and compromising and finally approving a measure, it is Obama’s staff that debates and compromises and finally approves something."

“President Obama is not above the law and has no right to issue Executive Amnesty. His actions blatantly ignore the Separations of Powers and the principles our country was founded on. The President has said 22 times previously that he does not have the power to legislate on immigration,” Sen. Paul said. “I believe that immigration reform is needed, however for true and effective reform, we must first secure the border. I will not sit idly by and let the President bypass Congress and our Constitution.” - Rand Paul

The Kentucky Senator issued a statement in the immediate aftermath of Obama’s immigration speech vowing not to let him violate the Constitution;

Can anyone tell me who is stopping them from "securing the border?"

I get that some people in our country believe that this is true and find it funny. I don't, maybe they vote democrat because they are the politicians that would rather find a solution other than shipping their ass back. So wether that's disingenuous or not, it still addresses an issue that they care about. Kinda like guns and the bible for the GOP.

No one truly wants to since it benefits every interest group in some fashion (labor, voters, govt, etc). Talking about any immigration reforms without a working border is simply a lie

Now that's funny!!

Oh please, if they genuinely wanted to fix the problem they would 1) talk about how we can better fund our border patrol and secure our borders, 2) find a way to speed up the legal red tape within our current naturalization process

instead he wants to just simply reward people for skipping to the front of the line. If that is the case then I would venture to say current LEGAL immigrants have a case to sue the federal government to recover fees lost through naturalization. Why are they getting screwed here?

How do you think we can address what Mr. paul said then? Specifically the securing the border part.

I think he issued the statement to run for President, don't you?

We're going to have him, Rubio, and Cruz each trying to outflank each other on the right.

So it's Obama that you are referring to when you say "he" I assume. He wants to "reward" them simply to get votes, right? Because without them and the dead voters surely the country would run red, right?

yes, he = Obama. Yes I believe this is mostly about getting votes. What color the country turns has no basis in my argument. If LEGAL naturalized citizens come here and want to vote Democrat then whatever, that is their prerogative. I'm pretty sure 4 million Americans travel to Mexico they aren't going to let us vote and hand us driver's licenses.

Retask at least half of all current assets used for "the war on drugs" to border security.

the billions doled out to "save" the auto unions ....er I mean the auto industry, could've been used. But you know, we had to save GM.

Yep I agree with you.

"A grieving father is asking President Barack Obama to bring his son, who was killed by an illegal alien, back to life with an executive order on immigration.

“While your Executive Order pad is out, can you write one to bring my son and the tens of thousands (actually over 100,000) killed by illegal aliens back to life and to bring our destroyed families back together?” asks Don Rosenberg in a letter to Obama. His son Drew was killed by an illegal alien who ran over him in 2010.

In the letter, Rosenberg notes that President Obama’s administration refused to deport the illegal alien who killed his son.

“I know that shortly you will be issuing some sort of Executive Order protecting millions of lawbreakers, many of whom have killed people but all of whom share some responsibility for those killed,” Rosenberg wrote. “I know that you want to prevent their families from being separated. By the way, your administration refused to deport the man who killed my son. I was told, ‘He’s only committed one crime of moral turpitude.’”

Rosenberg’s letter to Obama was a follow-up from a previous letter he sent the President this summer, a letter to which Rosenberg has not received any reply."
