Intramural bball signups were today at UT. The football team routinely puts out one of the better if not best team, although last year's team got dominated by China Express (current UT bball walk-on Michael Hubert's team). One of the football teams this year, Bayside Tigers, will include Gerald Jones, Jeff Cottam, Luke Stocker, Clint Dowdle (former graduate assistant), and the big rumor is that it will include Daniel West. West is the point guard who was academically ineligible for the Men's basketball team this year and is paying his way this semester to be eligible next year.

reading this on another board put me in mind of playing an im team of football guys when I was in school. I remember JJ McClesky was the pg and I think Marion Hobby or Bernard Daffney was on the team as well. One of those cats dunked on us and I thought the ball was going to stick in the court.

Haha - Daniel West inintramurals.. talk about unfair... surprised they don't have someone like EJ Abrams Ward on a team. Stuff like that probably takes the fun right of these leagues.

I'm pretty sure the Bayside Tigers is the name of the team every year... they used to kick our ass. Cory Anderson = Straight Baller.

Seldom,if ever, should the football players win the open basketball league. There are LOTS of players on campus who can use any one of the football players on the bball court.

This is true. My frats IM team used to be really really good. I don't remember them really ever losing to the football team.

haha...I guarded him when I was a 10th grader and he was 12th. Not a fun experience. My back still hurts from boxing him out and feeling like I was getting ran over everytime.

Pickens, Harper, Mims, and Carter were all on the same team while they were at UT.

I'm pretty sure the guy who had his jaw broken by Chuck at The Last Lap might disagree. Then again, the guy had it coming.

Chuck was very cool with us. He asked us to call him "the arabian prince"

I can't remember if it was 98 or 99 but when we played the football team in intramural bball, they only played defense with 4 players. Deon Grant just stood under their goal catching long outlet passes & dunking like every 3rd play.

I had a bunch of classes with all of those guys and occasionally hung out with them. They were an interesting set.
