Interview with Crompton and Stephens (video)

Stephens just seemed like he has his head on straight. Granted this is one of the few times i have actually heard him speak. There is no way he shouldn't have gotten some snaps against Auburn. All we needed was one drive and he could have been that spark we needed to win. But we'll never know. Crapton needs someone to let him now he sucks, it seems like the coaches might be taking too easy on him.

I am digging the things that Stephens is saying. He sounds like a leader. I hope the coaches make the right choice though.

I'm just pleased to know that I don't have to watch Crompton throw his patented 110 MPH fastball to the receiver 5 yards in front of him. Of all the horrible throws that idiot makes, that one is by far the worst

:zeitung_lesen: Alabama just rose to number 2 in the national polls.
The sad thing about that is that, if UT had an AD who cared about football as much as he does about basketball, Tennessee could be the team that's re-establishing it's once-proud tradition as big dog in the SEC. Whether you like Nick Saban or not, at least he's earning his $4M/year. :banghead2: :realmad:

I am still a bit confused, after all, we have all been led to beleive that Crompton was the second coming of Shuler, and we also heard, even from Cutcliffe, that BJ was a leader the moment he stepped on campus, and that he was going to be in the mix for the starting spot, now he has just kind of fallen out of the picture. I was one of mant that last year couldn't wait for Crompton to get his shot, I really thought he was going to be fantastic.

I wish I could have the optimism you guys have concerning Stephens... and truly I hope he lights the world on fire... I'm just not sure how well a kid who was badly beaten out by a guy who has now flopped badly is going to do... it is probably very unrealistic to expect an improvement.

I wish i would have been askin some questions to crompton... one of my questions would be... "Jon do you think that your a good enough QB to bring the Vols back to a winning tradition?" i think he would say yes... he is so cocky and it pisses me off makes my blood boil... personally if you compared the interviews Nick was so much more confident and Jon just kept rubbin his face and sayin ya know, i think i counted 8 or 9 times just bout every other word... what is up with that?? give stephens the QB spot and kick JC off the team... He'll never be a good enough qb for the vols let alone any other team...

Keep in mind it is highly possible that just prior to that interview his enormous ego might have taken the biggest blow of his young life w/ the competition announcement....

I was pretty hopeful just a few weeks ago.

I didn't expect to see JC play that badly even after the UCLA game. He seems to have gotten worse.

Even now, I don't think UT has just been overwhelmed talent wise by anyone including UF. UT simply hasn't had the plays from the QB position it needed to win... and didn't really need that many to be 3-1.

Look guys... leave off with the personal stuff on Crompton. He hasn't played well but that doesn't make him the devil incarnate.

What's he supposed to say? Is he supposed to say he can't get the job done?

If he comes off as cocky, he may be overcompensating for a lack of confidence. Either way, I have sympathy for the guy. He's died in the wool orange and is watching his lifelong dream slip through his fingers.

I get the feeling Crompton could say pretty much anything and the comments in this thread would be exactly the same. I had no problem with anything he said.

Well, I get what you are saying, but I don't think that a whole lot of accurate and honest assesment takes place. It was his (Crompton) turn and, by golly, that's how it was going to be. I think that is illustrated by how bad it had to get and how much external pressure had to be applied for Fulmer to pull the trigger. I mean, with a product like they've given us this year, that there would be another qb with more than two pass attempts. .......

sjt18, you are right about the personal stuff. I really feel for the guy. His father must be sick right now from just wishing he could "bear the load" for him. Many times a kid will never get another real shot. I think, for whatever the reason, he has NOT been developed or just isn't a "gamedayer". That is sad for a kid who dreamed of this (well, not THIS, but before the season started)

pretty funny how everyone is talking about the way crompton responded in the interview but how would you feel being interviewed about you not playing good, and getting asked questions about the resulting qb competition?? not real fun questions for a college student to answer!!

Yeehaw! Stephens was sweating so much it looked like he had just been hosed down...hopefully that means he was getting all of the first team work in practice!!!!!!! :D

Crompton doesn't look like he gives a rat's ass. And he's arrogant about it. How the hell you pull that off, I'll never know.

Why is Fulmer not opening up the competition to BJ Coleman? Don't you think at this point in the season that we need to see what ol mother hubbard has in the cubbard between Stephens, Coleman, and Crapton?

I imagine Coleman just isn't competitive at this point.
