has a very kiffin feel to it. as long as you boys are ok with that so am I, but i've been reading differently since lane jumped ship.
Not EVERYTHING Kiffin did, in terms of recruiting, was wrong. He was tireless in pursuit of guys who are committed elsewhere. I can't ever recall anyone saying that it was dirty to do that? I admire that in any recruiter, and he should still be doing that. I don't think anyone has ever called any other coaches dirty for continuing to recruit guys committed to UT.
As long as payment or extra benefits aren't going on, I think pretty much anything is fair when it comes to recruiting.
As long as you recruit within the rules, all prospects are fair game until the LOI is faxed in. Commitments mean nothing to some staffs.
A classic example is Kiffin pulling Da'Rick a couple years back. Kiffin and Orgeron wanted him and did what they had to do to get him up to K-ville. This happens all the time in recruiting.
Kiffin may have got Rogers to take the bait, but he was not ours when CDD arrived. He reeled him in.

That's because CDD is "The Closer." Same method Saban uses. CDD has the attorney chops. He can make the aurgument and the closing statement using his experience, knowledge and humor. As the VFL program produces more benefits for the players, the legacy will grow.

Wait, so now recruiting kids all the way up til February regardless of their verbals is not doing things "the right way"?
Give me a break. Dooley's no saint. A lot of folks around here have put him up on a pedestal, but he knows what he has to do to win while staying within the rules. Key phrase being, within rules. This is the same man that faxed a letter of his intentions to recruit every rising junior and senior at USC.
Ridiculous notion.
