Winning some games and having a good coach will do wonders!!

Just look at Ole Miss! They are reeling in the best wide receiver this class, and possibly the No. 1 recruit overall!

Just shows me that winning is walking the walk, and not just talking the talk.

Human nature?

No. Not really. Attitudes are like weight loss/gain. They are the sum of small choices in thought and behavior.

WAY too many people here have conditioned themselves to have a negative kneejerk reaction. Results of late are part of it but as with anything else you either manage your circumstances and not allow them to control your attitude or else you let your circumstances spin you like a feather in a tornado. Several here just react to the circumstances and say "I can't help it". Nothing could be further from the truth. We seldom choose our circumstances completely. We ALWAYS choose how we let the circumstances effect us.

Thought habits cultivate attitudes. Attitudes ALWAYS determine actions.

To suggest that Ole Miss' past season was some kind of roaring success is an exaggeration. Had Dooley finished with that exact season... pretty much all of us would have been calling for him to be fired. It was a better result than Ole Miss has been used to of late... but hardly anything earth shattering. They already had a decent roster so it really wasn't an over achievement either.

It really comes down to having a supportive fanbase and a coach who is positive and who drank his own koolaid. Freeze believes in what they're doing and is selling it. I'm not sure it will work regardless unless he somehow pulls off a big year next year... but right now... his attitude is contagious.

FWIW, I like Freeze alot. I would have liked to have seen him at UT. But there is no comparison between his resume and Jones'. Jones' is superior in every respect.

Losses like we had to LSU and North Carolina will do that to you.

Don't forget Kentucky 2011, Florida at home 2012 and Vandy. Losses that will go down in the anals of Vol History. The wind left the sail and never came back. CBJ is trying to change that. It's going to take a few recruiting classes for that too happen. What we all want to see is progress each year. It's been awhile. What's interesting is seeing folk get on here predicting 9 and 10 wins. This team is a few years away before seeing wins like that.

Speculation. That's mostly all VN is. No need to get caught up in it because we really have no say in the outcomes, just hope for the best.
