I started it at 1925. At the site home page you can search any period of time for any football team you want. I thought 1925 was a good starting point. I was thinking modern era of college football, which I think is generally considered to start sometime in the '30s, but since I wasn't sure I went back a few years farther.

You see this done all the time using 1926 as the starting point, since that was Gen. Neyland's first year.

I've seen it done a lot using 1926 as a starting point, too, but I never knew why people used 1926.

The numbers actually look better using '26. I was thinking the '30s were generally considered the start of the modern era because the AP poll started in the '30s. Could be wrong though.

I'm not sure that anything qualifies as "generally considered" when it comes to college football history. If I had to pick a point and call it the start of "modern college football," I'd probably go with when they started limiting scholarships in 1977.

try going 1890 to 1930. Vandy is Top 10 and Furman is ahead of UTK. Thanks for posting this. I'll be playing with it all day trying to figure out the range needed to make an argument that my Mercer Bears were once the dominant team in cfb.

Really? I figured you'd be using it as an arguing point for Fulmer's termination :p

I love how Florida isn't even on the list.

Duke has more wins than them.

HAHAHA

looks like Tennessee loses that number 1 spot in wins since 1925 this year. And to Bama, even worse.

I find it disturbing that some people are trying to sell us the BS that the Tennessee job is not that attractive. But the numbers tell us that they are the top program in the nation since 1925. They are top four in games played, bottom four in games lost, #2 in winning pertentage, and number 2 in wins...so the numbers are not skewed in any way. since they have a fantastic tradition, and the university is in one of the most beautiful areas in the nation, and the facilities are top notch, and the fan base is rabid, why exactly wouldnt a coach want to come here? No yeah, recruiting base....pu-leeze.
