In 14 losses, Tennessee was tied for the lead 5 times at the half. In 10 of the losses, the deficit as the band took to the field and fans sprinted to the concession stands was 4 points or less. Ten of the 14 losses has come to ranked opponents. In those 10 match-up's, Tennessee averaged being down 3.4 points at the half and 4 of the 10 contest were tied at the half.

Hubbs

UT is capable of doing big things this year. UT isn't as far off as people think.

In before the losses were trending worse and more lopsided and we stunk at the beginning of the third quarter which shouldn't be because of lack of depth.

I would say the mark of a good team is how well they play 5 minutes before halftime, the first 5 minutes after halftime, and the 4th quarter.

UT's average margin of defeat against teams outside the top 5 was around 10. That is a lot better than Dooley's first year.

Are you really, honest to goodness that ignorant about football?

What are half time adjustments and what is the single most significant trait a football team can have to do them well?

I'll make it easy for you... it is spelled E-X-P-E-R-I-E-N-C-E. When you spend 80%+ in a week working on fundamentals and basic gameplans... you simply DON'T HAVE time to prepare anything else. If your team lacks experience then you can't got to things they've never mastered and repeated.

Good grief. Just when you think people get it just a little bit... a post like yours hits the board.

People forget we gave bama all they could handle for a half. Depth and talent was the downfall...both of which should be better this year. Not saying we will beat bama, but we should be better.

Calm down, Calm down. You are way beyond there understanding. It show you have something that is needed on this board that some don't seem to have and that a understanding of what is exactly going on. Keep your head up cause it is fans like you that really give the rest of them hope. GO VOLS lol

With a completely decimated roster we hung with the best in the country for half a game...I do not understand how people try to say Dooley can't coach when it obvious it was depth that did us in, on almost every loss we have had.

The only game I will give to the negavols is the KY game.. Hold on to it guys, never let it go because its the only thing you really have on your side of the court.

Hunter was the missing piece to three games last year. Possibly four. If only tho..

Playing not to lose doesn't help you win. Shades of the past.

Yeah, just ask Fulmer. This should be a good year; injuries and depth hurt last year, and depleted depth the year before. Finally we have replaced the lack of depth with 3 yrs of strength & conditioning behind us when we start the fall.

Typical mean-spirited VN post. And you are actually among the very worst even though you try to give the appearance of being the smart guy in the crowd. I guess the reason the board is getting cleaner, so to speak, is because those that dissent --aside from a few holdouts-- have left for greener pastures. Me included. I come here occasionally and get called ignorant. So I post less and less, the way you want it.

If Dooley can win 10 games next year it will prove he is up to the challenge of coaching a top program. I love the Vols, and will be sick if and when we start losing. So don't come back with the "I bet you want them to lose" nonsense that you have used with me before, please.
