Austin Johnson is listed as the starting MLB over Probst. AJ spent the spring at OLB and now that the spring is over he has leap frogged JP. I wonder if the coaches did that as a message to JP?

Interesting, I was told that Probst was the smartest linebacker they had and was expected to be the new Nick Reveiz, making sure everyone was lined up in the right spot. Has that changed?

It's spring ball. That depth chart would mean just as much if I let my wife fill it out. I'm not even sure why they put one out this time of year. We are missing more than 20 of our new players, some of whom will factor in.

IIRC Johnson moved to OLB temporarily because Lathers was recovering from shoulder surgery. With Lathers returning as starting OLB, Johnson is just moving back to MLB, no? I agree with dlw, it's still just spring, it's too early to say who will start.

The best 3 lb's after fall practice will start. If that includes Propst, AJ will move outside. I personally think it does not matter since the top 6 or 7 lb's will be seeing a bunch of snaps subject to Wilcox's defensive schemes for each game. IMO the staff is preparing the team for a strong run starting in October and going into 2012 - laying the foundation for future success without sacrificing competitiveness today.

Whoever plays better in practice should get the first start. If AJ has outperformed Probst than he should start.

This name sounds familiar to me, pards. Is this fella of any relation to that big fella who used to coach the kids on that football reality program? That show was kittywampus, but I still watched. Hell, I can't remember if the fella's name was Probst or Propst.

His uncle was Rush Propst from MTV's Two-A-Days. John played at Hoover but Rush is now coaching HS football in Georgia.
