Interesting Interview by a QB coach on Guarantano

Why? His first option wasn't open, and by the time he looked at his second option, he had a defender in the backfield so he tried to get away. He looked at a second defender, but felt the pressure and tried to tuck and go. That's a problem with the offensive line. I don't know why you keep using bad examples to make a point
Because he doesnt truly understand football, he just wants to repeat the same trope as if simply repeating it is going to make it true.

Here's the thing I've learned. People want to place blame and the people who talk the most are the people who bash JG, so it gains traction.

Actual analysts seem to think JG's a good quarterback. Some posters on this board think he's the worst Tennessee quarterback ever. It is what it is.

So your telling me that he sees the blind side rusher and never looks his way? Well that's a whole new problem that I didn't even realize he had. He knows it, sees it pre snap but thinks the guy is a ghost and cant tackle him. hmmmmmm
He is looking downfield to make a play. He expects THE ASSIGNED MAN TO MAKE A BLOCK. Not let him run free so he has 2 seconds or less. There isn't SUPPOSED TO BE A BLINDSIDE RUSHER IF ANY BLOCK AT ALL IS MADE.

Because he doesn't know what he is talking about. That is why he is blaming JG.

Whatever happened to Burt Shotton. Barton Fink, Bart Starr, or whatever his name was. A preferred walk on I thought we got about the same time as Chryst last year.

I haven’t heard anything regarding him. I believe he was around 6’5 200 lbs. Maybe he just doesn’t have the arm.

JG isn’t the entire problem with the offense. Clearly the line is hot garbage. I still wonder why a roll out package wasn’t developed to get him away from direct pressure.

JG is a serviceable quarterback. He will do for what we need out of a quarterback. Another year in the strength and conditioning program, as well as film study, will pay dividends.

JG cannot throw on the move. That is one aspect he does not have. That’s why there was no rollout installed.

Shrout can throw on the run and so can Maurer. I would expect to see more rollout plays next year. If one of those two make it into the starting spot.

On that play, he literally had two seconds. That's ridiculous because that was normal all year long. I place a lot of blame on Ty Helton for not calling games differently to protect his quarterback.

Its according to what you call open. Some QB's see a target as open as long as the defender isn't in the targets face. Some qbs only see the target as open if they are several yards in the clear. By the way, how many passes did JG throw over the MIDDLE. Yeah thats right. Guess why. Those off target and over the head passes would be intercepted. Good QB's throw the ball to a spot. Its up to the target to be there.

It wasn’t a blockers fault they ran a fake to the RB. The blocker was not assigned to the guy blitzing off the outside. JG should have seen the blitz coming and gone to his checkdown or changed the play altogether. He did not do that and got hit on his blindside.

He get's more than 1.4 seconds, the oline isn't good, but they don't collapse on every play.

Here's every pass from the WVU game, count the time after the snap.

Every pass VS ETSU

Lost interest in the first video when it did not show JG getting nailed in the back by the NT on the very first play from scrimmage on a one step drop. i'm guessing there are more missing clips that show our OL ineptitude.

That was not a QB running his progressions, at least that's not how a good Division I QB runs their progressions.

He sat in the pocket, waiting for the one receiver that he was looking for to come open, who didn't, thought for a moment about running and sort of tucked, then decided not to run and try to throw, and ate the sack.

I love how you act like he didn't zero TDs in 3/11 games that he played the majority of, one of which being against a paltry ETSU defense, while only managing a single TD against the powerhouses of Charlotte and UTEP.

You love making things up. He didn't play the majority of 3 no td games.

He played about a quarter of Bama, two series vs Mizzou, and half of the Florida.

So at the most you could say he played most of the Florida game and the other "no td game" we won 59-3. All he did in that game was lead us to a 45-0 lead.

Another "one td game" we won 24-0 and ran the clok out while JG went 75% passing with a 183.8 rating. His highest of the year. Terrible game huh?

It sure is his fault that the staff likes to run in the redzone.

Maybe stop twisting the truth and you could make a valid point. .

You are trying to complain about lack of tds in games he played less than a quarter twice, a half once, and the other went out up 45-0. LMAO

I want to see JG behind a line that gives him a fighting chance. It would be easier to insert a mobile QB than to fix our line though.

This is ABSOLUTELY wrong.
We had Josh Dobbs for 4 years and you say it doesn't matter??? As soon as he left you saw how bad the line really was.

JG is the biggest reason Tennessee is not in a bowl game. I fully expect Mauer to beat him out

I strongly disagree that it’s all JG’s fault. There are too many culprits to mention...including several coaches...we need to Reload and Regroup for next year!

DWA was wide open to his right and he never looked to his right. It’s not a bad example he was staring downfield the whole time.

Very interesting to me that George mentioned Oklahoma. I heard an interview on Sirius radio that stated the Sooners OL is so good that the injuries they have had did not affect the offense. He stated that the best player on the team is the red shirt freshman center. He is big, fast, intelligent, and a team leader. I have always and will always believe that the OL and DL are the very basic part of a team.
Seems like Oklahoma always has good lines with depth. They must make that a priority.

Our o line leaves a lot to be desired.

I feel the same about JG.

Can he improve? I hope so.

I also hope one of these new QBs turn out to be really good.

My bad you are correct, he did go out in the 2nd against Alabama, so 2/10 instead of 3/11. Cool.

He still managed zero passing TDs against ETSU, and one against UTEP. It would be awesome of having a high completion percentage or passer rating translated into points, but the NCAA hasn't deemed attaining those lofty numbers worthy of granting a free TD.

We ended the season 124th in first down offense, and 110th in scoring offense, but as long as JG sort-of balled out in his stats vs UTEP, it's cool.

Say what y'all want about JG, but the young man deserves combat pay for all the sh#t he had to endure this year.

GBO!!!

We won those games 59-3 and 24-0. What are you talking about. You are complaining about his quarterbacking in two games we won literally 83-3.

You are not making a valid point. We averaged 41.5 points in the two game and he went 20/29 for 322 11 ypa and over 160 rating each game.

So yes those stats did translate to points. OUR COACHING PHILOSOPHY FAVORS RUNS IN THE REDZONE. The runningbacks scored on drives he lead.

Your insistence on using two games we won 83-3 and he averaged about a 175 rating and over 11 ypa shows your lack of understanding.

I love coming on here and seeing the same people that were sure that KC would come in and start over JG now saying that JG is going to to either get benched next year or transfer. You guys are insufferable and have no idea what you're talking about.

Going to be a lot of disappointed people who don't know anything about football when JG is the unquestioned starter in the spring and fall.

Too many ignorant statements to address individually.

Shrout 51% 26 ints and far behind JG this year isn't catching and passing him up. You are smoking meth if you think that.

JG is a good SEC qb and probably All SEC next year. The one saying he isn't an SEC qb said the same things about Dobbs but thought Dormady was a NFL prospect.

Y'all are clueless.

It will be proven who is clueless. And, that person will be you! JG will not be starting at UT or any other high end Power 5 school no later than mid November of 2019!!!
