I’m not familiar with this QB coach, but I think he does a good job of summing up his limited observations of JG.
- He saw JG play at a camp between his junior and senior year and felt he was very talented for a hs QB entering his senior year
- He paused, then in a “politically correct” fashion, added that he thought JG hasn’t developed like he thought he would while at Tennessee...

There’s been an onslaught of commentary from all of us on JG, so I’m not going to regurgitate those comments again.

This post is about hiring a good OC. I think we should hire an Offensive Coordinator who excels in QB coaching. You hire an OC with Cutcliffe’s or Kiffin’s skills, it would make a difference. I do know that Helton wasn’t good at it. I’ve been shocked at his inability to teach and instill basic QB fundamentals.

Very interesting to me that George mentioned Oklahoma. I heard an interview on Sirius radio that stated the Sooners OL is so good that the injuries they have had did not affect the offense. He stated that the best player on the team is the red shirt freshman center. He is big, fast, intelligent, and a team leader. I have always and will always believe that the OL and DL are the very basic part of a team.

JG won’t be the QB next year. With a new OC, it’s time to start looking to the future and work with a player with a much higher ceiling than him. My guess is he transfers.

I’m sure they will fight against a transfer. I see McBride transferring. They will try and keep JG on as the Number 2. I see it being 1) Shrout 2) JG 3) Maurer

I don’t think there would be a fight. He just isn’t an SEC QB. They bring in a new OC, and start a new QB, and then they can rightfully say they are preparing for the next few seasons.

The idea of JG is intriguing. I have noticed through my years that development and competency in at a task can't be fully realized until there is a change of venue. Like taking a new job. If JG dreams of playing in the NFL, transferring might be the best option. But, just as easily, it might not be. So, there's two cents worth.

Going to be a lot of disappointed people who don't know anything about football when JG is the unquestioned starter in the spring and fall.

Too many ignorant statements to address individually.

Shrout 51% 26 ints and far behind JG this year isn't catching and passing him up. You are smoking meth if you think that.

JG is a good SEC qb and probably All SEC next year. The one saying he isn't an SEC qb said the same things about Dobbs but thought Dormady was a NFL prospect.

Y'all are clueless.

Wow. JG (along with his entire team btw) stunk it up this Sat. But someone please be so kind as to point out who the sure thing for 2019 is who waits in the wings when he transfers next year. I must have been gone for more than a day and missed some big development at the position.

Thanks for stating this. Amazed that some have the competency to even type with some of the verbal garbage spewing on the QB situation. It's comical!

It is hard to read a defense when he is on his back. Tennessee has offensive line issues and until those get fixed it does not matter who the QB is.

I believe the point is the QB reading the defense happens BEFORE the play when you make your adjustments. That is where he appears to be lacking in any skill. He can call a play and he can run it but if there is anything that happens during the course of the play that changes his first read then the play is doomed. In the Vandy game he got racked from behind on a blitz AGAIN while locking in and waiting on his receiver to make a double move. You could tell the guy was going to blitz pre-snap but JG never put an eye on him before or after the snap. The retort is the O-line is responsible for blocking it. The reality is he is in his 12th game of the season and should understand that there is a less than 50% chance the guy will get block. It would seem to me, that if my goal was the throw to the double move I would at least look towards blitzing DB on my drop back. Two reasons, one to see if he was getting blocked but also and here is a JG issue, to look off a safety away from my primary receiver on the double move. Second year starter and third year at a program, that is a player issue as much as a coaching issue.
