Interesting how Florida's several injuries didn't hurt them

Some quality players were left on defense, no doubt. But Mac is getting some major contributions on defense from guys he brought in; Cece Jefferson, Jabari Zuniga, David Reese, Chauncey Gardner to name a few..

On offense, basically ALL of the offensive contributors are guys Mac brought in; Calloway, Scarlett, Perine, Appleby, Cleveland, McCoy, Ivey. The only holdovers from Muschamp who are doing much of anything on offense are Brandon Powell and Goolsby, plus a few o-linemen from the Muschamp days.

Yea, Muschamp was such a great defensive coach he shut down the Gator O!

But the D could lose 8 players to the NFL draft this spring. That's were Muschamp focused.

And got injured

The two defensive players who returned - JRM & Sutton - both missed more games than they played. JRM hurt his shoulder against Ohio; he played a couple downs against Florida but couldn't go...so he basically missed 8 SEC games...Sutton was also hurt against Ohio and missed 5 SEC games - games against Florida, Georgia, TAMU, Alabama and South Carolina. Counting tomorrow, he will have played in 3 of the 8 conference games.

Compare those two to Maye and Anzalone - Maye played in 9 games; he missed part of the South Carolina game and the LSU game (one and a half conference games) and will miss the FSU game. Anzalone played in 8 games; he missed part of the Arkansas game, the south Carolina and LSU games (two and a half conference games) plus the FSU games...

JRM & Sutton miss 13 SEC games...
Mayes & Anzalone miss 4 SEC games...

You can compare Kirkland and Davis - Kirkland was hurt against VT and missed five games - the heart of our conference schedule - games against Florida, Georgia, TAMU and Alabama. He was able to get some reps in against South carolina but is still not back to full speed...Davis has missed the last two games (against South Carolina and LSU) and is not expected to play against FSU...

2 bye weekends and the postponement of the LSU game didn't hurt either. 1 game in 28 days in October against a powder puff team another contributing factor. It is what it is and by not playing the game on Sunday or Monday following the hurricane gave them the rest they needed.
