Georgia is always a safe bet for any sportswriter.

They never meet the predicted expectations but rarely fall off they radar by blowing it.

The question is do they underachieve year in and year out. Not really the are just over inflated so much it is easy to overlook. What is the last GA team to live up to it preseason Billing. The years they won the SEC Championship 2002 and 2005 I don't think they were predicted to do so.

Iirc UGA was preseason number one in the east atleast 03-05

Good article. I would have to agree that it would be a surprise if GA makes it that far. Their analysis of Dooley is fair and unfornately just. I hope that he can prove this year that he can coach us out of "the muck".

If he can't coach us our of the muck, then there is a silver lining.

(1) "O Bama" had NCCA issues and no one wanted the job at "O Bama" They settled for their 8th choice
Kiffin left the program, after stripping the roster to nothing. No other coaches wanted the job here, so we settled for our 8th choice.

(2) Shula, "O Bama's" hire, is a famous coaches son.
Doole, U.T's hire, is a famous coaches son.

(3) Shula can't coach, but he can recruit and build a roster. Dooley can't coach, but he can recruit and build a roster.

(4) Shula was fired and the next hire was a homerun hire and "O Bama" is back. Dooley is ....................

He mentioned in the article "if" CP qualifies. I didn't realize there was a possible issue with him qualifying. Help me out here?

murray is more proven than bray. I, myself, think that bray is the better qb. But in reality, bray has never faced a true dominant SEC defense. Until Bray shows his a$$ against an alabama or florida or USCjr or UGA...Murray will be considered the better qb. It's time for Bray to prove em all wrong!!

Has Bray ever faced a quality opponent with a full first string cadre around him? Nope. Well, maybe the Cincy game. But for most of us, Cincy is not a quality opponent. I do agree with you that TB is a better QB than Murray. And as you said, it's time for TB to prove to everybody that he has the schnizz to wow the D1 world. He has two years to make the Sunday payoff. The best way for him to accomplish his goal is in the film room and the weight room. He has the tools. he needs to combine the "tools" with the "want" factor.

Here's what I've never understood. Define micro-managing. From Chaney and Wilcox's comments the past two seasons, he lets them do what he hired them to do and doesn't get in way. Now, he is micro-managing when it comes to details in everything else off the field, but I've never seen any indication that he overrides his assistants.

Define micro-managing? It's what Nick Saban does at Alabama, or so I've read.

I just hope Pittman teaches those guys on the OL to play with a mean streak and some nastiness... They were soft last year. If the OL improves, we will surprise a lot of folks.

Then I'll take a double dose of micro-management please. No problem with a coach having his hands in everything - then he rightfully gets the credit when we win (or something positive happens to the program) and the blame when we lose (or something negative happens to the program). The situation in knoxville calls for a more hands on approach. If cdd had been lucky enough to inherit a stacked team (Larry Coker) then his job would be to back off, let your assts coach and the players' talent take over. Of course after missing back-to-back championships by a double ot, look where that got Coker vs where it got Saban.

That said, Dools better win 8 or hes probably gone for Kirby Smart.

Why would we hire kirby smart?

He has no head coaching experience.

He was 9 of 15 for 159 yards in one half against SC in 2010...as a true freshman, with a mucho-crappy O-line.

You worry too much.

I'll never admit that any team can beat our Vols until after the game is played.

Great teams have been upset many times by underdog teams that surprise them so I hope UT surprises everyone this season.

I want to know how much $$$ UGA pays to get such a soft schedule every year.

I believe Tennessee can win the East this season and I'll keep believing it until it's impossible.

Dooley is very process oriented. Just because you dont know about it doesnt mean its not happening.

With all the changes on this staff it will take a miracle on Dooley's part to get 7 wins. I believe many want to see him succeed, but the confidence factor in his ability to get it done took a big hit during the latter part of the season.

Exactly.

They will, I'm with you.

No kidding. They get to skip LSU, Arky and Alabama. WTF is up with that? We could win the national title with their schedule.

I believe Tennessee can win the East this season and I'll keep believing it until it's impossible.

Thank you. Post of the week.

just a guess since we seem to be trying to AL, jr. at UT.

B-b-b-but they took Lance Thompson from us. So are they trying to be UT Jr?

...

lol...Get over it, kid. Assistants hop around from program to program all the time.

ALL THE TIME.

Now, go find a bash-Dooley thread, where you'll feel more at home. This is a positive thread about some positive ink we got. Stop trying to bring everyone down.

If UGA is going to start their most productive wr from last year at db it won't be that easy for them at the start of the year. Don't the go to Mizz for their 2nd game?
