Agree.

And I'll be totally honest here. Some know more than others, but we all know our administration is not what any of us would like it to be. I've already said what I thought would be a successful season and if it wasn't then I would be ready to replace Butch. But damn man, it scares me schitless.

I know several say we couldn't do much worse, but that's just not true.

Just thinking out loud. I'm not saying I'll be supporting Butch no matter what just because of fear from a lateral move, but I don't look forward to a coaching change.

Can't stress enough how bad I hope he can get this right.

Exactly how I feel.

If he gets tired of the BS I have no confidence in the boosters or ut admin bringing in anyone close to Butch.

I know you guys like to jump in any thread to be that guy but you really need to take a long deep thought on this.
If the boosters are micro-managing everytbing and the admin are treating the football team like track we've got bigger problems than b$%tching about winning 9 or 10 games.
If Butch was to leave because they won't let him run the show I can see a coaching hire so screwed up that we would find it hard to even consistently go 6-6 every year.

Thank you

Agree the best thing for Tennessee football in the long haul is for CBJ to be successful here.

The A&M AD has publicly stated the Sumlin is on the hot seat and better produce this year.

Butch's boss hasn't said anything remotely negative about him.

Not sure why you're making this argument.

This will be Sumlin's 6th year. The reason Sumlin is under pressure is 11-2 (bowl win - ranked 5), 9-4 (bowl win ranked 18), 8-5 (bowl win - unranked), 8-5 (bowl loss - unranked), 8-5 (bowl loss - unranked).

He has trended down from the first year.

not saying UTK administration is the sharpest tool in the shed but they, and Mr. Currie, ain't that stupid to fire Butch right now...even with a less than stellar season...ya'll do see what this bunch is doing in recruiting...puhleeze...Butch ain't going anywhere, of course, unless he wants to, and if he has to keep putting up with BS...he may just do it...:)

GO VOLS!

Year zero shouldn't be held against him.

A lot of this admin stuff is spilt milk. Hart was a lame duck AD whose authority was continually reeled in over his last two years. After he announced his "retirement," he didn't have the authority to make major financial decisions. Everything ran through Joe DiP, who didn't have time, and didn't want, to manage athletics. That was poor judgment and a lapse in leadership on UT's part and it handicapped all programs to some degree.

But things have changed. Currie is hands-on, approachable and direct. He's providing the leadership that has been lacking and has an open door policy with the HCs. He has had several face-to-face meetings with them, shared his expectations for the program and asked them to tell him what they need to win. The politics and egos will always be there-- as they are at any university like UT-- but you can see and feel the difference.

Year 0? Sumlin's first year he was 11-2. Maybe he should not get credit for that? Not sure where you get year 0? 2017 will be his 6th season at A&M.

Butch said his first year was year zero.

Guess that only counts if the record sucks?

Just giving Sumlin a pass, same as we did Butch, and rightfully so BTW.

I'll give ya a like seeing as how you apparently care.

I should have known this is how the thread would have went. Booker is really keeping it going

Yea you should. Alot in here with level heads. 20% won't use their brain for a true thought process and post the SOS over and over.

Some fans think we can hire the next Lombardi just because we're UT but your foolin yourself. I want us fans to not have tunnel vision. You can't just say Butch sucks he lost two he shouldn't have. To be a true fan and fairly judge you have to factor in Hurd and all the injuries to offense and especially the defense.

Then you have to throw in this bs about the admin and boosters. What if he's asking for different kinds of training tools or special equipment that is proven to help football players and they're telling him no? You have to look at the big picture to get the full story.

Hey! You!

Don't you come around here with that reasoning and thinking stuff!

Now get back down there and wallow in misery like all the TRUE fans do! They love this team so damn much they want it to fail, for its own good of course, and so should you!

Now don't you let me see you trying to reason your way through a complicated situation again, you emotionally reason and say the same things 400 times over.

that is interesting and gives me hope that bringing in Phil Fulmer may help bridge some of that politics and free up CBJ to do more football related rather than politics.

If a "Nega" had posted a similar story he would have been pushed to name his source, provide photographic evidence, and been pelted with invective for daring to suggest all was not perfect on the Hill. Everybody knows if it's clad in Pantone 151 it can't be anything other than perfect.

And you could make the argument that anything positive is met with a negative response or spin. It goes both ways, it just makes you feel better to point out your view or side. I do agree the only way to shut folks up is just WIN, and I think were gonna do it! Just sayin. GBO!!!!

Exactly. This is by far the most negative board i come too. Sucks it's my own teams chat board. I go to lots of other boards just to get an idea of how their team is going to do and what not. Tons of positive people. Even Ole Miss for Gods sake. Then you come here and it doesn't matter what good news is posted or how upbeat or informative someone tries to be, BOOM, that post goes instantly negative.

By far the most miserable fan base in the SEC. Well, I won't say the "fan base", because most Tennessee fans are great people, but at least as far as vocal minority of posters go. By far the most negative.

Any small bit of enthusiasm or good will and you Get shut down. It's laughable. Maybe they need to turn the wifi off at the nursing home Bc there are some super bitter people man.

And that is only half the story. I have found it interesting from watching the first few games last year over and over as to how Bob Shoop was able to basically shut down some teams in the second half or sooner when we were healthy. App State got shut down offensively in the second half....so did UF and Va Tech. Shoop is a bright coach, and then the injuries happened. Not only that, we seemed discombobulated between the front half of the injury laden defense and the back half. Seems as if Ole Willie didn't agree with Shoops aproach and then all of a sudden every team we played could drop dimes on our DB's. I expect that to be very different this year.

Say what you want, but Dobbs and the offense put up enough points against Candy to win. The defense kept giving up these ridiculous pass plays. This cannot be any worse this year, there is just no possible way. Butch really screwed the pooch on the strength and conditioning coaching last year....Jennings only being able to bench 225 one time....are you kidding me???? Now things seem to be turning around here too. I am just curious to see what our offensive play calling will look like.

Overall though, I really think that this team has the talent and coaching to surprise a lot of people this year. That is all.

Thanks Magic for sharing all that. I am really excited about this year and next years recruiting class. I for one am pulling for CBJ to have a successful season and can't wait to see QD throw the rock around and see JK run over people. Oh, lets not forget Berry will be back and what a dangerous young man he is when he touches that ball. GBO!

You do realize that some of the folks have complained about the games that were won - saying it was luck or we should have lost - just to find something negative to say.

In my eyes winning silences negativity. There will always be people that can not be pleased. If you're winning and producing championships the heck with everything else is my opinion.
