Droski, what do you know about the Albatross Pub in Berkeley?
very cool place with tons of dartboards. Right next to the north berkeley bart but a LONG ways from campus and downtown berkeley. Good beer selection too. edit: if you are thinking of going there before or after the game you could walk to university and take one of the busses that runs to and from the campus on university. It would be pretty easy actually.
Droski - I know we've already discussed the best pre-game spots. However, my brother and I may wander around Berkley on Thursday or Friday evening. Any place in particular that's good for a Thursday night -- food, beer, and only half-hostile crowd.
here, here......... i know i haven't seen any articles witha national tilt on them for the big FL/WKU or Bama/WCU matchups"This is how the big boy schools have to live..on the prepetual edge"
Things are starting to heat up a little. I hate stating the obvious, but that is what a tough out of conference opener is all about. This beats the heck out of playing a directional school in the first game of the year.
telegraph or north berkeley? On telegraph, blakes is a fun place for a night out (food is ok). Tell me what type of food you like and I'll recommend something in berkeley. For a quick and cheap eat top dog has fantastic hot dogs and sausages (off telegraph on durant). Jupiter is a brewery with very good food and beer and it's right off the downtown berkeley bart station. And I very much doubt you will get harrassed on a thurs or friday night for wearing vols gear.
I'm thinking about going there before the A's game Tuesday night. Given its proximity to the N. Berkeley station, if someone wanted to get to campus, wouldn't riding BART to the Downtown Berkeley stop be the easiest mode of transport?very cool place with tons of dartboards. The comments on the website for the article made me crack up. They think Ainge was only good because he had Meachem. He also thinks our running game will be worse, and he says our secondary will be awful. Cal fans really do think they are going to win this game. They remind me so much of South Carolina.
Tennessee is "in broad strokes" the same team? I guess if you're painting with the biggest paint brush on the planet! --- Tennessee is returning none of their receivers (especially meecham). Their Starting RB is suspended. (sure Coker didn't play much against Cal, he was their strarting RB most of the season. The starting TE just injured himself for the season. Cutliffe is installing a new no-huddle offense for a QB that really only has had one good season (and the above mentioned meecham was a big reason for it) -- saying the vols are the same as last year is a rediculous statement.
An outsider's perspective:
