Getting tired of the a couple plays here or there story by CPF. Consistant play or coaching would have taken the need to make one play to win the game out of the conversation. Done with that angle.

The statement below out of the article shows that all Phil had planned was eight-win seasons to get his "raise and extension". He obviously didn't really care whether he won a championship or not. Just give me my "raise and extension". Good riddance Phil, for some of your true colors are now showing!!!

The perfect storm of luck didn't happen this time. I'd prefer to not have too depend on a lucky bounce here or there.

Which only speaks to how ludicrous last summer's contract was, nothing more.

Or how comfortable he had gotten. He lost that drive, once you achieve success some people become complacent and too comfortable believing they have already delivered the goods. I believe this to be true at some level for Fulmer.

One last thought. I think that breaking Neyland's record had become more important to Phil than winning championships.

I would agree with this statement, more so than the others. Look, the guy may have lost his fire, lost a coach he did not replace, or just was not a great coach. Saying that he did not give a ?@#$ about winning championships, and was JUST worried about passing Neyland is a little overboard.

Same here. This article says nothing more than if the the play was better then there would have been more wins. This is not exactly the type of secretive information that one would find in the sangreal documents. I too tire of such worthless articles.

This article is ridiculous, and it's embarrassing for UT to be linked to such whining. It's the perennial cry of losers: "If a few things had gone differently, we'd have been better." Well, in UT's case you can make the case that if not for a few breaks here or there UT would have LOST a lot more games -- this year and in years past.

as happy as i am with CLK, it's a tough pill to swallow, thinking about that. i loved phil, but i wasn't happy with his extension over the off season, but also wasn't happy they fired him. but then again, i'm extremely excited with CLK coming to knoxville. it just gets me thinking about what might have been, and whether i'd like to still have fulmer or not, which is uncomfortable.

I honestly doubt it. The mentality that I could ascertain from the Hill was that as long as he beat the teams he should beat, and lose to the teams he should lose to, he'll get his raise.

What is uncomfortable to me is the throngs of UT fans who still want Phil around after the last decade. I say most of you are more "Phil fans" than "UT fans". The statement "Hell, they would have to give me a raise and extension" after an 8-win season is proof positive that all he cared about was his own greedy ass. I want a man who is pissed after one loss not elated after 8 wins.
