Sheds a little more info on Wilcox. Loved this quote:

"This isn't the first time Wilcox has been courted by a bigger program. Last month, he withdrew from consideration for the coordinator job at Texas A&M, saying, "I love it here."

Tennessee, though, has a little more firepower. The Volunteers are one of the nation's glamour programs in the powerful Southeastern Conference with a 102,037-seat stadium, strong talent and piles of cash."

My good buddy is a huge Boise St. fan, he is from Boise, and he is very upset at the possibility of losing Wilcox. Seems like a good young coach with quality experience

It seems like a lot of the posters in the article are worried about losing him as well. Didn't realize that BSU's defense was that stout.

Oregon game stats:

1/10 3rd Down Conversions
0/2 4th Down Conversions
QB: 14/21 121 Yards 0 TD 1 Int
RB: 17 Att 31 Yards

This was the same Oregon team that was 6th in Rushing and 8th in Scoring over the year. Boise State played way over their heads. We'll see if the same guy can do the same thing with better players this September.

Interesting that LaTech played Boise State this year and LaTech hung 33 points on them.

Can he recruit? If so, where does he have ties? Idaho isn't exactly a powerhouse recruiting area but maybe he has connections in Ca, AZ, WA and Tx?

A huge amount of players for Boise State come out of Cali. Something like 33 players or 33% come from California. That is the statistic they showed during the bowl game.

Not so sure our players are better at this moment in time. They finished in the Top 5 and will more than likely start next season at no worse than 6-7. I'm hoping he can work miracles with us being undermanned...especially at DT.

I'm sure Wilcox has seen about every possible formation in the WAC, that place is constantly reinvinting the wheel. We bring in a solid Dline and coach and this may turn out to be on heck of a hire.

This is a great hire. Plus this will give us a connection for the West Coast when it comes to recruiting.

"The long-term impact might be more significant. Wilcox was a strong recruiter - he lured quarterback Kellen Moore and wide receiver Kirby Moore to Boise. His passion for the game helped fuel the defense."

I like the fact that we seem to be hiring aspiring individuals who have worked their butts off at smaller programs. I just hope that same work ethic can translate to big things with the level of facilities and support they will recieve here. Im positive they feel they can do more with what we have then they've worked with in the past. Also our caliber of player is greater here then in the WAC and other places our coaches have come from. With Chaney and Thompson staying I have hopes that in the coming years, note YEARS, that TN will return to a place of prominance in the football world.

I liked this quote even better "Now 33, his reputation soared last season when the Broncos held Oregon and TCU to a combined 18 points in two high-profile games. Those teams averaged a combined 74 points per game, finishing in the top eight in the nation in scoring."

I couldn't agree more---and to all the naysayers who are complaining let's just all stand back and let Coach Dooley and Wilcox do their jobs. We have a difficult 2010 schedule but I have confident these coaches will "coach up" the players and get the maximum effort that is required..We are on a stable solid road and we've weathered the storm..now we just need to get through the 2010 schedule..recruit some more and by 2011/2012 you are going to see some real progress...

I think it's GREAT to be a Tennessee Vol.......

That is interesting. Our new head coach vs our new dc...

At this stage, I can honestly say that I'm just as excited about Wilcox as I was when Dooley was hired.
