They need to stick by their own dammmmmmed rules.
How can the ground cause an incomplete pass but not a fumble. Should be the same for both. If the receiver goes to the ground with the ball in control it's complete.
1. Slows the game WAY down
2. They STILL get it wrong a big percentage of the time
3. They don't follow their own rules
----Sick of hearing about "indisputable evidence"
----Sick of hearing about "you must be able to see the ball to overturn a call" (oh yeah? Remember our Vandy game?)
----Sick of hearing that you can't review a play after the next play has been run. Has happened at least 3 times against UT in the past year or so.
4. Just as open to tampering as before instant replay...maybe more so. And now they are calling Birmingham on vid replays? Sheesh.
5. Eliminating the human element is impossible.
Either junk it entirely (my preference), or set a time limit -- if they can't decide whether to overturn say in 30 seconds, then the call on the field should stand by default.
The only reason IMO to get rid of or retool it is the length it adds to a game. Maybe my attention span is shorter as I get older but its gotten really hard to sit down and watch a game because of the interruption etc. And live at the game is getting even worst. It should not take 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours to play a half of football. And I have decided the talking heads in the sports centers drive me nuts and I get embarrassed for them trying to fill air time with on and on drivel...As you can tell its becoming less and less of an enjoyment for me to watch sports...And I love sports...imagine someone fairly new to the game and trying to follow it...doesn't bode well for the future...
If it was then why didn't the refs stop the game? We ran the next play and were about to line up for a 2nd.
Exactly this! If they were buzzed for a replay the line judge should have never cleared the ball and allowed the snap to take place. They got one play off and lined up for a scnd play before they stopped play.
It needs to be like the NFL. Coaches challenges. Make the coaches think a little and not rely on the booth buzzing down.
That's the one part of replay that I don't like. The frame by frame stuff where they strain to see if the ball moves is ridiculous. It should be a little more difficult to overturn the call on the field.
We go really fast and the referee is the only one that knows he's been buzzed by the booth.
...and the line judge has nothing to do with when the ball is in play anyway.
