I just heard Chris Lowe say on 104.5 the zone in Nashville that UT has had 16 changes in leadership in the last decade. Think about that, we really need to unite and right this ship.

Schiano is a good coach...
Sorry I knew more than everyone else about what was going to happen.

My guy from day 1 was les Miles

But what does all that have to do with instability?

I would argue that all the changes aren't the root cause, just a symptom of all the incompetence at the very top.

:rock::hi::eek:k:Lowe is correct. All the changes have occurred after Dr. Joe Johnson retired as the UT president. Doug Mathews has often talked about the UT leadership on his radio program. What happens when the current UT president retires in 2019...rumors suggest he will be replaced by now Governor Bill Haslam.

The Football Scoop report also revealed that Fulmer may be telling potential coaches that he plans to be heavily involved in the football program as the athletics director at Tennessee. Is this good? Maybe for some coaches and I bet it won't be for others. In other words, he doesn't trust or have faith in anyone. If so, who in the hell would want this job? The only person that may even consider a position with TN will not be a Tier 1 Head Coach. Looks to me as if he wants Tee Martin to be HC or someone he can tell what to do and when to do it. No good hiring will come from this attitude.

Tennessee needs to purge itself of Haslam influence. Their inept leadership will kill this university if they are not purged away.

Tennessee needs to purge itself of ALL BIG TIME boosters influence when making a hire in the AD. If not, we just move on to the next big time booster who pushes their agenda and thinks they know how to coach.

. He will be heavily involved just as Dickey was. As Wiscy's coach is. People trying to spin this as negative but it is positive. It means fulmer will provide the support needed to win

It means he has no confidence in the hire. As an AD he is responsible for ALL sports, ALL student athletes, and the boss to ALL coaches.

As a good manager - you don't hire someone you need to micro-manage.

That is different than working with a coach to recommend assistants. If it is perceived that he is going to give "game day" information, a good coach will think twice about coming here.

I interpret that differently. Maybe he was emphasing that the football program would be his highest priority and he will go to bat to help the program? Things like getting higher salaries for assistants and shielding coaches from unwanted boosters.

Nobody goes around telling prospective coaches they want to tell them what to do and when to do it.

Something does tell me he may be leaning more toward a coordinator like Venables.

I think there is a place for boosters and their input. The problem IMO is UTAD under the influence of the Haslams became about running it as a business rather than a balance of interests that a higher education institution should be. Our recent low ball hires or attempted hires in CBJ followed by Schiano are prime examples. Schiano was going to draw even less that what we originally offered CBJ is my best recollection. Who does that??? Scrimping on paying a coach when we're really supposed to be about competing and winning in there somewhere??? In other words the same guys that ruined the Las Vegas Strip, charging people $5 for a bottle of water now, were ruining UT football finding a coach to take the job for $4 million per year or less reportedly for Schiano, the bean counters, the business guys for us the Haslams. They lost their way when winning was very far down on their list and they wanted to appear like they were trying when in reality, they were all about doing it on a bare bones budget IMO. So, the question has to be asked, who has been walking off with the money they were saving and had planned on saving??

That was the appointment letter - not a contract. Most have said there will be a contract signed once everything settles down.
