Injury Update Thread

I was with you Wes til the comment About Tennessee being the only team with injury problems. I counted at least ten top 20-30 teams with more injuries from last week's injury report. I do believe this deserves NCAA attention. Look at cut blocks, penalties, treatments, recurring injuries, returning to play to soon, playing to early at certain positions or two much (carries or tackles).

Increase practice time.

Yes. These up and down injury stats should be issue number one for NCAA. Everyone should support keeping players healthy and not looking at injuries as an advantage between teams.

My Contention with CBJ: He believes the most REPS creates the Best Player, WITHOUT regard to the Long-Term-Affect on the players body? Season after season: INJURIES occur with or without a Weight Trainer!

There could be truth to this. CJB is insecure that his starting players are good enough. He gives them too many reps, too many hard reps. They play in the game and get injured dinged up or look soft because they are tired from overpracticing. They look like they need more practice and the cycle repeats itself. Also, we play all our best players on special teams ... more reps, more reps. Maybe the starters need more "leadership reps".

It's a possible explanation. Hard to prove though.

And he told you this?

"CJB is insecure". Cmon man. Dude is making $4M a year, a lot of people like him a lot, and his only problem at this point is a bunch off whiny, fair weather, UT fans.

What the hell are you talking about? It's football; a topic (it appears from your post) that you know very little. Is there anything that CBJ could do right for you clowns? There are so many people on the board that talk like they are football experts but they don't know anything...except how to complain.

Guys, let's keep this thread focused on sharing news about player injuries and recovery.

Plenty of places in other threads to discuss Butch's strengths and weaknesses.

Unfortunately, most fans are that way, not just Vol fans:good!:

Mcdowell returns in 18' correct?

I honestly don't know, Volmark. He would have to want to apply for a medical redshirt. I'm sure he could easily get that, but he may choose to graduate and move on.

Haven't heard a word about the intentions of any of the injured seniors...when Evan Berry was re-injured recently, the announcers said he'd played his last game as a Vol. But he played so little this year, it's possible he could get a medical redshirt as well. And TK Jr. Just don't know what any of them plan to do. Heck, they may not know yet.

A medical redshirt, a hardship waiver may be granted to athletes who appear in fewer than 30% of team competitions (none after the midpoint of the season) then suffers a season-ending injury.

McDowell should be ok if he wants it. Berry might be screwed by the midpoint rule.

Yeah, good point. That's probably why the announcers seemed sure Evan had played his last game for Tennessee. Pity, he's explosive. Hope he has great success at the next level.

Jones was stupid for playing him vs Ky -- but what does he care ?
