Injuries so far this season

Yes, I hope the coaching staff evaluates the S&C program after this season. There is no way another team comes close to having as many injuries as we have at this point in the season.... sidenote-- irritates me how lately on SEC network and the guys calling the game never mention how riddled we are with serious injuries and how that affects this already young team on the field against these other teams... it makes a big difference in the 4th quarter. Man, coulda woulda shoulda, but damn wonder where we'd be if we were mostly at full strength so far this season.... could realistically be undefeated.

You know another thought--- with this many guys out, they will hopefully be back next season and people are gonna go "where did all this talent come from on this UT squad, they are greatly improved from last season"... we get Croom, North, Gaulden, Phillips, Miller, Sapp, Butcher, on and on back in the mix and we have serious depth....

We should be undefeated and it's not injuries that lost those games it was coaching. Injuries hurt sure but we should have won every single game if not for complete meltdowns by the staff.

You can look at injuries over a time and some coaches consistently do better than others across the spectrum of winners and losers.

I do not know exactly why but UT has suffered what seems to be well above average numbers of injuries under Jones. If I had to guess, I would say that it is skewed by the number of pre-season injuries and that is at least in part a function of the pace of practice. Players pushed to the edge of their endurance will have more injuries- both contact and non-contact.

Personally I believe this is hitting the nail on the head.

who all is out or injured so far this season ?

Gaulden- pre-season

Maggitt

Tuttle

Croom pre-season and previous season

Sanders pre-season

Jackson pre-season

Perry pre-season

Butcher pre-season

North pre-season then re-injured

Sapp

Kelly

Abernathy IV

Phillips

Miller

Kendrick

Crowder

Robertson

Weismen

Howard dismissed

I know there are more, list who is out for the year and who is banged up,i know it is a sad thing for the Vols, but I would like to know what is going on,injury wise

I see 7 guys whose injuries either put them out in the camp or else originated in camp or before.

The bold players are those normal injuries that every program faces that may cause players to miss games. All of these players are expected to return at some point over the next few weeks. I would salute Jones here though. He seems less inclined than many other coaches to push players to play hurt. This is a choice that has a cost. Your depth is challenged if you choose not to put an 80% healthy guy out there. Some coaches... go the other way.

Only two players, Maggitt and Tuttle have been lost for the season due to injuries that actually occurred in live games.

Other than to make the list longer, I'm not sure why Miller was on it. He has played in 3 games and has not recorded a tackle. His absence may or may not be injury related.

Not true. It was a team effort. Coaches AND players. As was the win over Georgia. Let it go.

Butch HOLDING everybody out (encouraging the doctors to give more serious reports) so he can get everybody back next year so he can go 10-2 or 11-1.............great STRATEGY Butch..............

One thing to remember in all of this is that Jones has engaged in a good bit of disinformation since fall camp began concerning injuries.

You can't mislead all of the time but giving some false injury reports can either cause an opponent to not prepare for a player or to prepare for one that won't play.

agree. Don't believe injuries caused any defeats.. the loss of any players on the list could have been over come with different coaching decisions within the games. Arkansas is questionable but IMO, had we won Oklahoma and Florida, Arkansas would have had no chance in Neyland

To all those who wanted Butch fired or coordinators fired, there are 15 reasons to cut them a bit of slack. [I know I know -- still some questionable coaching decisions but injuries play a big part]

There is no "IMO" we DID have Florida and Oklahoma won. Butch won against UGA but that still doesn't excuse those two games.
