We've lost far too many players to injuries so far this season.

That's football for you though.

No matter what the staff does football causes injuries and always will.

We just need some good luck for a change.

NCAA needs to increase the scholly limit. Lots of schools are having this issue. Same in the NFL. The 53 man roster needs to be increased to at least 60+.

All these injuries coupled with a team that especially on defense seems to fade more than most physically in the 4th QT brings up the effectiveness of our S&C program.

This needs to be addressed in the offseason IMO.

Between the OL and DL I'm surprised they beat Georgia honestly. They take Bama to tr wire, even beat them? That would be incredible.

meh playing tight and being injury riddled is the cause there not our strength and conditioning

Being injury riddled could easily be a direct result of faults in S&C program

IMO the fact all this started in fall camp that's the first place to examine

I thought Croom had already had another knee surgery and was out on the practice field? If this info is true and he is having another surgery, how many does that make, 3 or 4?! Not trying to bash the kid, but maybe football is not in his future? Also, North has been at practice, along with Kelly and Phillips, so I believe they will be ready. Interesting on Darrell Miller, haven't seen anything specific on him, would like to know what his injury is...?

I had totally forgotten about Vincent Perry - he will definitely help next year on the receiving front. He looked good in camp until he got hurt.

Croom had his other surgery right before season started. Hasn't had one since...

North, Kelly and Phillips are all having practice reps managed as they get over issues. North and Phillips may or may not be ready b Bama but that is just nature of their injuries. Practice reps are more likely to aggravate their injuries..

You bring up valid points. I don't think that people need to be under the scope or anything, but it's worth evaluating, at least.

I not saying people should lose their jobs just some evaluation and likely tweaking within the S&C program

You can look at injuries over a time and some coaches consistently do better than others across the spectrum of winners and losers.

I do not know exactly why but UT has suffered what seems to be well above average numbers of injuries under Jones. If I had to guess, I would say that it is skewed by the number of pre-season injuries and that is at least in part a function of the pace of practice. Players pushed to the edge of their endurance will have more injuries- both contact and non-contact.

who all is out or injured so far this season ?

Gaulden out for the year - Projected Starter, NB has hurt this team as Foreman has underpreformed.

Maggitt out for the year - Played 3 Games, Has been missed in terms of pass rush, Lewis has played well though.

Tuttle out for the year - Starter at DT when injured. Will be missed

Croom out for the year - Not a huge difference maker, but could have potentially provided a reliable target for a struggling WR corps

Sanders out for the year - Backup Guard, has give Jack Jones a chance to step up, and he has.

Jackson out for the year - Solid Guard, certainly would make the line deeper at the very least

Perry out for the year - Potential playmaker, surprised some in camp with how good he looked.

Butcher Out unknown for how long - Was probably in for a redshirt

North Questionable - Has not been himself all year, hopefully he can get right

Sapp Questionable - Special teams stud, can be replaced with a decent guy, likely won't be as good as sapp

Kelly Questionable - Kelly Should play, has been teams best safety IMO

Abernathy IV Questionable - would get a few touches a game

Phillips Questionable - Bye week will help get him back, looking to take next step in second half this year

Miller Questionable - reserve corner

Kendrick injured - Seems like he should play, starting RT, backup Chance Hall played very well saturday

Crowder injured - depth guy on OL

Robertson injured - Probably our best OL, Backup Jack Jones was very effective saturday

Weismen banged up - Underrated Backup OL, hoping he will be good to go

Howard dismissed - Was expected to be most reliable receiver.

I know there are more, list who is out for the year and who is banged up,i know it is a sad thing for the Vols, but I would like to know what is going on,injury wise

Attached significance above. These injuries are not easy to handle for a team that is thin and young...

At just a cursory glance many of these injuries simply are bad luck. Blame the S&C for Tuttle, Maggitt? Uh, no. I do believe that Butch has been trying to instill toughness into our previously soft, fold up the tents in the first half team and that could account for some of the preseason injuries. Listening to the radio the other day and some talking heads were speaking about the rarity of pro teams running Oklahoma Drills when referring to the new coach at the Dolphins doing it. At some point just let the boys jog and have some r&r to heal up and work on technique/film.
