Initial Rivals 100 - 2014

3 of top 6 from Virginia. 3 of top 18 in NC.

With our location & being in the sec we need to hit these states hard. If these kids wanna stay close to home & play in the sec there's really just UT, UK, & Usce (maybe uga) to choose from.

Having Graham & Thig in NC is huge for us. We need VA though. Missing on players like Levenberry & Green hurts.

Berry twins are obviously only 50% of what Eric was. It was unfair to them that they are twins...

They had to split the athletic talent while Eric got all 100%.

50% of EB's talent is still 1,000% better than what we had on the field last year (with limited exceptions).

I'd still take them....they're still an ENORMOUS upgrade from our DBs last year.

Who all do the berry bros have offers from? I know us, Auburn( prior to troop leaving) and lsu because of their track program were leaders but have all 3 actually offered ?

Having a good season this year will be huge for recruiting. It's all about momentum. If we exceed expectations and make an ok bowl, we'll be able to pull a lot of guys who have interest in UT but want to see a winning program. Look at Ole Miss this year. A ton of momentum off of a 6-6 season and a Compass Bowl win.

Going 8-4 or 7-5 and playing in the Gator or Music City bowl would be big in year 1 for Butch & Co.

Why are people tripping on Hurd's ranking? He is the top 4 star and number 15 in the country.

Just because he's not a 5 star. But he is still ranked very high. I think he didn't get that 5th star because he's a little taller than you would prefer for a RB. Hopefully he's as tall as he's going to get (6'3") because 6'4 or 6'5" is getting really tall for a RB. The only RBs, that I can think of off of the top of my head, who were 6'3" or taller to make it in the NFL are Eddie George and Brandon Jacobs (I'm sure there are more but I just cant think of them). That's the only reason he's not a 5 star IMO bc it's obviously not based on talent or production otherwise he'd be in the top 10 IMO. He's going to be a great player either way, just hope he does it wearing orange and white.

I don't think they both play DB, I'm not even sure if either of them does. Eric tweeted the other day that one of them plays WR and the other plays LB/DE iirc. Not that it matters...I want them no matter what position they play. Just wanted to let give you a heads up.

Eric Dickerson. They are the exact same size.

I think Thig is working in the Dc/VA area

Yea as long as 6'3" is as tall as he's going to get then you're right, they will play at the exact same size. I've seen him play a few times and his running style actually reminds me of Dickerson. Don't get me wrong I'm not saying he's that good yet, just that they have a very physical running style (AKA beast mode).

As to Hurd rating - joke. Top 5 talent. Watch the vids and look at the production. Tough in the hole with good moves and breakaway speed combined with the size. First round potential = 5*. Must have for our program.

If CBJ can land several in this group it will go a long way to restoring the program. Better overall group of players than last year IMO.

I don't even want to see or hear Eddie George's name. Thats probably the exact name CUM is selling to Hurd. I hate Meyer. Makes Tressel look like a saint.

By the end of his Sr season, there is no doubt in my mind that Hurd will be one of the top 10 players in the country. He's extremely quick and elusive and doesn't mind bowling people over either.

He's been 6'3 for a few years now, so I would say he's done growing vertically. He's already getting close to 225lbs too. I think he lacked the 5th star due to his height, but also because some of these analysts haven't seen him in person. He'll probably do a Nike Camp this summer just so he can go to The Opening in Oregon, but he's never cared too much for the combine circuit. Combines, 7 on 7's, etc. are not football. This young man is a football player. They'll all know soon enough! GBO!!

Yeah WTF?
Still, that legacy cannot be ignored, real 'em in Butch

If they aren't good, I don't care if they're a legacy or not. I'd rather use the scholly on 2 others that are better.

And to clarify, I'm not saying they aren't good, because they are. I'm just saying I wouldn't use a scholly on both o them just because they're named Berry. If there's someone better that wants to commit, bring them on.

Jalen Hurd is a must have. Keep him in-state.

This past October, I watched him play against Wilson Central (where my daughter goes) and he really didn't impress me. I don't know if he was just having a bad night or what. I'm not a coach, but it appeared to me that he ran too straight up. He took a couple of hard licks because of that. I don't remember exactly how many yards he had but I think it was 80 or so. Beech had a great team even without him. That was only one of two losses for Wilson Central.

What excites me about this list is that there are so many 5 and 4 star players within a relatively small radius of Knoxville. Locale has a huge bearing for some kids and parents. Can't believe we're already speculating about NSD '14 . . . . .
