Informative and disturbing article about Dooley recruiting.

You all realize that if we fire Dooley we can kiss another recruiting class goodbye, right? We need stability.

I go to church with Kevin Revis. No, he simply doesn't have the physical abilities of some of these 5*'s, but indeed he did bleed orange. You gotta have some players like that on the team.

I have lived to regret supporting Coach Dooley.

I hate to pile on Dooley and I hope that there are some coaches that felt good about him in the Vol pipeline area. Unfortunately I talked with a former Vol and HS Coach about Vonn Bell and he told me the same thing. He said Bell wanted TN and if the Vols would have called earlier he would have committed. I didn't think too much of it since we are friends and were just talking but after reading the article I can only shake my head and wonder. We have some great talent in TN (more than it gets credit) so I hope the new coach can make some saves and start us on the path back to greatness.

Heard some boosters repeatedly called the AD until Dooley finally called Vonn Bell.

The more we see and hear about DD, the level of incompetence in all areas becomes so clear. How did someone who was so in over his head get hired to begin with? Sadly, Hamilton dwarfed DD.
What a frickin' mess...

Not excusing dooley by any stretch, but there are a lot of high school coaches, boosters, season ticket holders, VN posters, average fans, household pets, etc that want the head coach's attention. When they dont get it how and when they want it, they whine like little babies. This is exactly the reason we have a tough time with memphis (i'm from there so i know)....the high school coaches are all crooks. Jmho.

But all the other programs had time to go by these high schools? Saban takes time to stop in Memphis on his Caravan tour every year, he even donated 10K to a local Memphis church.

This is what happens when you have a coach that's on his way out and the staff turnover we'd had. Doesn't surprise me really.

And what is surprising is that Dooley is leaving better talent than he had when he was hired. Tells us something about our last 8-10 years of recruiting. While Kiffin signed some 4-5 * players, very few of them remained on the squad because of the grades or lack of character. Seems as if the new coach has a lot of fences to repair in a short period of time.

Vonn Bell is a five star on scout. He is also a big fan of the Vols and being recruited by many major football schools in the country.. It's ridiculous.

Well then I just hope he waits until the new hire before signing with anyone :good!:

I really hope we're not ignoring guys like Malachi Horton who just broke Little Man's rushing record at Mo-West and Malachi is still a junior. Little Man's record has stood since 1990.

We always gripe that there's no talent in Tennessee but small schools with big time players often get ignored no matter where they play and TN has a collection of small schools.

As to Fulmer, he really was all over the place even in small schools. He offered my cousin a walk-on with a likely scholly the next year to play WR (we were loaded back then as well as now at WR) and he was in a small school just over the border in KY.

My memory is a bit fuzzy but didn't we see these same kind of articles after CLK left (and maybe even CPF)? Once a coach is gone they can't use 'access' to control the media so the hounds are released.

This.

Everything that gets swept under the rug comes out when we have a good Fall House Cleaning.

Our classy, organized, witty, southern gentleman former head coach is about to get a Jersey Shore make-over.

This stretches beyond the tri-state area. I know many in Henry County who weren't exactly thrilled with the way Dooley and his staff handled its recruitment of Andrew Jelks, who, despite his family being die hard UT fans, chose Vanderbilt.

One positive thing I saw in that article was this:

"Each of those coaches admitted, however, that they would not hold a grudge against the program and would welcome the new head coach and staff to begin building a better relationship."

yes where one of his players dads is preaching or serving as a Deacon I'm sure! LOL Saban makes me tear up everytime I hear something bout him! Hope he gets a bag of rocks for Christmas!
