Read the article this morning. Threw up a little. No wonder Vandy is ahead of us on all the recruiting sites. Dool's knew he was getting 5 mil whether we sucked or not and took a big dump on the program

Funny.. I just mentioned this article to my wife.... She said.. CPF was in my school ALL the time because they were trying to recruit a player. Said that he was in one of her classes talking to one of the coaches on many occasions.

Rapport, networking, and perception is everything.

The number of high schools that have the same failing grades for the Dooley staff is alarming. That reveals a troubling culture that was taking hold. Glad to hear the coaches say they are open to the new staff.

I always thought Fulmer didn't recruit in our area, and went out of state. I remember Dooley gave that big pep talk about how he was going to do this and that and things would change. Now, we learn that Fulmer was all over the place in his day and Dooley ignored the good players.

Good info for the new staff. I hope this perception can change. There has to be an established relationship with TN HS coaches.

Has anyone actually seen Dooley at HS games? Just asking because I have seen Franklin at multiple games in the Nashville area.

I love it when someone announces they are putting a thread or a member on ignore. So dramatic. And yet, no one else gives a crap.

That's not the only tri-state area he ignored.

Coaches at Cumberland Gap, Lee (VA), Pineville (KY), Claiborne, and Thomas Walker (VA) said they have no clue who recruits their area.

Does anybody think the Dooley era was all a grand scheme by a lifelong UGA fan to ruin the Vols program? I'm literally sick to my stomach right now. If I see Dooley in the street, I will punch him in the nuts!!

Great, well-written, well-researched article.

The real stories about the Dooley reign are going to start pouring out now.

In Dooley's defense, I did hear that he has done a lot of charity work with retarded kids. He even let one run his defense.

I'd laugh if I saw it.

All the stories that dare not leak while he was HFC are about to come pouring out. I think we are shortly going to discover that Dooley is simply a lifelong Dooley fan.

Another reason why Hart cannot wait to long to get a HC & Staff in place. I'm just hoping recruits out there that like UT have the patience to play a Wait & See on the new HC before commiting to any other program. Hence.... a big and well known name will help tremendously.

sounds like a mixture of bad decisions by the staff and frustration by coaches that wanted more attention.

However, if the staff before DD spent a lot of time in an area that sends few players to D1 just to be nice, that's another reason recruiting and development slacked in the later years.

talent in TN<<<<<<<< talent in AL,LA,MS,GA,FL
Maybe, but Tennessee built its reputation with Tennessee talent as the core of the team. There are enough players in the state to fill out the bulk of the roster so we can be selective on the big out of state names. I dislike the idea of going after 2-3 star players in other states, just to see them sit in the 3rd string and/or leave the program. I'd rather take players from Tennessee highschools who have a desire to be a Vol.
