There is no excuse for the coaches not learning from last week, and losing 2 games back to back like that. Loses like that can't keep happening. I have no real complaints with the play calling during the game, up until the decision to kick the PAT and not go for 2. Yeah, they could have thrown more, they had one on one a lot and I think PW can win and Wolf and beat a LB or safety one on one. But we ran the ball fairly well overall.
But there is no excuse for kicking the PAT. They would have had to had 2 possessions no matter what, why not make it 14 instead of 13? Even at 12 it's still at least 2 possessions.
I like Jancek, he called mostly a great game, but his conservative calling the last 2 drives killed us. He does great with the third downs mixing blitzes and coverages, just use the same strategy on 4th down. The 4 man rushes (just 3 rushed on the 4th and 14) with zones on the 4th down plays wasn't working and really hurt us. It's not worked the last 2 weeks, change it up. The QB hadnt completed a lengthy pass all night, blitz and cover the short stuff, the zone strategy wasn't working.
The offensive play calling the last 2 drives, esp the last one, was pathetically conservative. They had all the momentum, and coaches were completely satisfied running 3 plays and giving it back to them, after the D was on the field forever. Again, except for working in some more passes and PA, the play calling wasn't bad.
The thing is all this is fixable. No need for calling for heads yet. Coaching changes almost always set you back some. The Coaches need to change and fix their late game strategies and win these games. Let's see if these things keep happening. The staff has got us to were we are relevant and competitive again with anyone once again finally, but be more aggressive and give the players a better chance to win these type games. If they don't change and these in game coaching flaws continue to happen, especially not able to close out wins, then it's time to move on.
